Ok, so I'm going to be accused of shilling this firm again, but it's rare for companies to allow journalists through their doors and show how their stuff is made...

Just thought you all would like to see this. Things have changed a bit since I was last there eleven or so years ago. The arms, cartridges and decks now look to be all made in the newer facility (well, newer means twenty years or so ;)) rather than in the multi-floored premises in Westcliffe-On-Sea. The main circuit boards in the electronics were tradidionally stuffed automatically by a third party, with final assembly being in-house, but there still appears to be a fair amount of manual assembly being done.
The expensive phono stage still terrifies the pants off me (all those wires), but I remember watching the cartridge assembly and testing being done with a fair amount of awe, and this was decades before the Apheta came along.
