Very regrettable sale of my stunning VAC (Valve Amplification Co. ) PA60 Valve monoblocs.
Cost new in 1992 was Circa £6,000

The VAC PA60 is a superlative quality high end valve amplifier which can run in Triode & Ultralinear modes. In the latter mode, it outputs 60 watts per channel and can drive very difficult speaker loads with ease.

The image above might state PA45 on one of the monoblocs but it is actually a PA60 as the serial numbers have been emailed to VAC who confirmed the build date and specification of these special amps. VAC have been superb to deal with and their customer service is excellent.

It is a Class A design so runs a little warm, although in Ultralinear mode it must swing Class A/B, as 60 watts is too much to expect in pure Class A from a pair of KT88s.
It sounds sublime, with surprising authority in the bass, and a rich full mid range with a controlled treble that remains behaved even when driven hard.
It is also (to my eyes anyway) a work of art and very pleasing on the eye. Build quality is pretty peerless compared with most of the Chifi valve amps being churned out these days.
Amps completely overhauled a few years ago including new high quality custom made Octal valve bases. The amps were also modified to ensure that they cannot run away on over-biasing with the introduction of a stabilising resistor to prevent this happening.
Brand New safety earth chassis joining umbilical leads, a newish matched quad of Golden Lion Re-Issue KT88's (the best of the modern KT88s by all accounts) PLUS a full spare set of KT88s;

Multi-meter supplied for biasing (need just a few times per year or after output valves changed).
Full instruction manual also supplied.
Only reason for selling is that I'm collecting far too many pieces of kit and need to realise some cash to put towards the business, so sadly this amp has to go.
Due to the HUGE weight of these things (approx 80 to 85Kg) it is either for collection (close to J13 of the M5) or I can meet part-way for cost of fuel, as long as you're not resident in the Highlands!
Despite having put some cash into these myself, and supplying with new leads, meter and spare valves, I am only asking what I paid, which was something of a steal anyway, so £1650 which is a stone cold bargain.
Buy with confidence. these things are supremely well made and having had a full major overhaul a few years ago are good for another 20 years!
