In a bid to make my speakers appear smaller, I removed the massive spikes, which dropped them down about an inch and a half, but curiosity got the better of me, and I put them back.

Now, it might be my imagination, but wow! What a difference it's made, it's bought the speakers back to life, not that they sounded bad minus the spikes, but this is genuinely chalk and cheese! :eyebrows:

I find the extra resilience of a foil pack of cream cheese under each corner of a speaker makes all the difference, but I don't use the chalk with my system.

I use 4 dairylea triangles as supports for my TT.

The thin artificial slice cheese works well as an arm board.
Add as many slices til you get the right height.

Large edam makes a great record clamp/weight.

The one with holes in (Swiss cheese) can sound a bit thin. Don't use goats cheese either as it's a bit runny.

I get good results using a Babybel under each corner of my Techie. The benefits of constrained layer damping (wax around Cheese) makes a huge difference :D

Cheese strings make a great tonearm.
Only make a 9" one though as i found 12" sagged and hit the vinyl.

I'm thinking of using a whole Edam cheese under each speaker corner, expensive but worth it.

On second thoughts, so that it matches the shiny piano black finish, I may try Black Bomber when funds allow.

Fancy Interconnects? How about a potato, or even mud?
OK, we've all heard or read the sales pitch for interconnects of fancy materials and geometries, I've got them all beat.

Did you know that you can pass a line level audio signal thru a banana? How about a sweet potato or even a bucket of mud? You can, quite easily. No joke, it really works. You can even stick two wires in the dirt in the back garden and pass an audio signal thru the dirt.

I spent this afternoon doing just that, and making recordings of it. This is no April Fool joke, it really works. If any of you are interested in what it sounds like, you can do it yourself, or I can post samples here.

You'd be surprised at what a musical signal sent thru a banana, a potato or a bucket of mud sounds like. Cyro that, cable guys!

Anyone care to hear it? Anyone care to guess what it sounds like?

I keep a packet of crackers handy too. It doesn't take a moment to whip out a supporting cheese and have a snack. I can always bung another under the speaker next time I've been to the fridge.

That sounds like a lot of work to get those spikes out, I've got the model beneath yours and had the spikes delivered later, so had to get them in, not much fun.

What do you stand yours on? I've got blue horizon spike shoes. The spikes make a (positive) difference to the sound.
