A brief word of introduction.
I'm Neil, and I have had a lifelong fascination with the reproduction of recorded sound. I've owned a great range of equipment over the years, some of it amazing, and some just amazingly awful. Classics included Garrard 301s - I had three, all different at one time; and LS3/5As - Spendor 15ohm, Spendor late 11ohm in the non-ply cabinets, Goodmans 15ohm, Rogers 11ohm, and even the Falcon homebrew kits; vintage Leak and Quad valve amps and modern single-ended; even a spell with an all-Naim system. All now gone! Today my key component is my Mac & Dac system which has made readily accessible my entire CD library, but now also includes all the material I accumulated over the years on tape and minidisc. I no longer have much interest in vinyl - the next project is to digitize the remaining LPs - though I still collect 78s, chiefly those from the 1902-1914 period with a particular interest in Russian issues. I have a Technics 1200 deck specially adapted to three speed to play these on, with a choice of hand-cranked acoustic gramophones to ring the changes. Repertoire is mostly 'classical'.:)
