I know some of you are musicians (the other side of listening to music is composing/performing it), so let's see your M U S I C A L instruments and gear! Unless you're Spike Jones, this is a kazoo-free zone.

Simple stuff from me. The three guitars are my own make, the back one as the very first, made on my mother's dining table with a Surform, Stanley knife and some sandpaper. The other two are the last two as I finally made something decent for me to play.

The mandolin was a junk shop find. All the staves were separated and it was a mess. Pretty now and reasonably valuable. My fingers are a bit big for it so it doesn't get played very much.

No amplifiers here.

Wonderful!

The first guitar I fell in love with (and learned to play) was my father's custom made cedar-topped classical, quite similar to the one on the right in your picture. It's lovely to look at, listen to and play.

Beautiful guitars Gordon...:)

I have been after a nice Parlour guitar for a while now. I did buy one last year but the intonation is not too hot on it and being a fixed neck with no truss rod it's a bit of an arse...:(

But my hopes are forever high that a nice vintage one will turn up one day for a reasonable price...:)

In case they can't read it, SIR stands for 'Steadman Instrument Repairs'

Not mine. This is André's.

Gets a mean tune out of it by all accounts.

Thanks,

The joys of hand made of course, is that they can be made to fit exactly. My guitars are so easy to play for me because the fingerboard and bridges are the right width for my huge plates of meat and everything is set up to suit my strange body shapes:stalks:

I used to offer that when I made guitars professionally. Makes a huge difference to the playability. These days, such stuff would probably price me out of the market although the very best makers survive of course.
