Can anyone give me a little info on the value of these?
Condition is pretty good, a few minor dings to the stainless steel panels but nothing serious!
Also, how to get the grills off?
I've found all the b&o sites where they are mentioned... Just can't find any reference to potential current value?
Dare I say what I really think of these?
There's passive Penta's and there's powered Penta's but NOT active Penta's. One tiny tweeter in the middle of all those drive units doesn't make for a wide dispersion (a deliberate design brief apparently) although they did sound better in the home than in the shop..........

I found a couple of cached pages (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:0jMie6NRz8YJ:www.ebay.co.uk/ctg/Bang-Olufsen-Beovox-Penta-Main-Stereo-Speakers-/93753688+&cd=13&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk) where they were ~ £300 Hamish. That may well be the price but I doubt whether that's what they're worth!

Also, beware, they have foam driver surrounds & it's going to take a lot of effort to sort all those out!
Why not let them rot in peace? ;)
Like many B&O passive speakers of this era, they don't do depth and "air" at all and are not particularly natural above a very modest volume level. The cheapo passive crossovers will need rebuilding with proper caps too, something recommended for all passive or powered Beovox by fans of the brand..

Thanks Chris ...
I'm not interested in them my self, I just happen to have a pair to sell ...
Hopefully to a fan looking to restore them, else I suspect these shining reviews you have just given them might have just lowered my potential sale price somewhat Dave ;)
Anyone have anything positive to add should google be the friend of anyone who finds my forthcoming eBay listing?

A couple of US ads show them at ~ $800.

There is a pair on German eBay for €990 too although they look mint and "enthusiastically" priced
I have a pair which I drove with my B&O Beosystem 6500 in the kitchen/diner. I have just sold the 6500 to a dealer (who did not want to buy the Pentas).
In terms of quality, they look nice but they would not trouble most hi fi speakers in a fair fight. However, the sound for background Radio 4 and pop CDs was fine - but bear in mind this was in a room with 15ft by 8ft french doors, kitchen units and tiled floor, so not perfect hi fi surroundings.
The other thing to bear in mind is that B&O is a bit like Mana - people love them or hate them. Haters will not be buying them and love can be blind...
I have seen them go for £350 on eBay over the past three or four years. I was planning to list mine with a reserve between £150 and £200 when I am around to deal with the sale.

Well, go them home, cleaned them up a bit ... The looks sort of grow on you. I wasn't sure at all to start with but they do have a certain charm. They sounded absolutely shocking when I first got them going, but they have cheered up a bit now ... They don't exactly compare to the Adams, but they aren't that bad ... They mostly sound as they need a more powerful amp up their arse the poor little digital job I have feeding them just ain't got the beans!
Anyway, they are on eBay now as that was always the intention ... Thanks for the insights folks ... Probably see you next time I buy something from where I got these from :)

A word to the wise. I have just looked at your ad.
I tried picking up a pair of these in a Mercedes SL once (with the hard top on :lol:). I had to go again with a Volvo estate.
It might be worth warning bidders that they will need an estate and that these do not easily dismantle. I'd just assumed that they would knock down after a bit of spattering/allen keying etc.
Best of luck with the auction.
If you have any disappointed bidders you might send them my way - I'm holding off posting mine up so they don't compete with yours.
Best
Peter
True - we had a Mondeo Estate for these and they only fitted in without the cartons they came in as I recall. We had fun with B&O Avant TV's too and B&O provided some superb after-sale installation packing so the things could be safely transported in an estate car or small van face down :)

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it...
We got them in the back of the Golf, all be it with the passenger seat quite far forward.
Thanks for thinking to mention it though
Bidding up to £165 and over a day to go...Looking promising. Good luck!:)

Hamish,
Good outcome - 210 smackers is not bad.
Mine go up tomorrow!

Was of course secretly hoping for a little more ... The chap is from just up the road though and is collecting with cash... So that sweetens things a little
