hallo,
just fixed myself a frying pan with:
onion, garlic, zuchini, carrot, peas and cashew nuts
on wholegrain rice with quinoa and red lens.

soon picking up my almost 4 year old from kindergarden
with bicycle and chariot trailer.

listening to billie holiday : last recording

on my system:
dl103r on sumiko headshell
jelco 750d with trough going cable
denon au 30lc
hörmann supa 3.0e preamp (germany)
hörmann atm tuningmodul (active rumble filter)
destiny audio: experience (first version) with kt88 ah
supra ply 3.4 cables (sweden)
3way br boxes with seas excel w26 and w12 and visaton ke25

my favourites: jazz (50s and 60s) and classic relation :80/20
but also very much:
johnny guitar watson
james brown
bob marley

my dream is a transitorfree system:
leben cs 600 amp with rs30 eq preamp

but i have a rumble problem with my open bass.
i hope it is the bearring.
thats why i joined in the first place.
mike new the solution?
nice to get lost in other thready anyway.
the 1210 got totally rehauled at 4-dj.de (very good).

hope you have an idea about me.
ah, and of course my bmw r75/7 and moto guzzi lemans 3 cafe racer
is worth mentioning.
but it all would be worthless without my wife and little boy!
they come first.

Jeeze, some intro. I'm presuming the main topic is the bass rumbling. Could we have more info? How far apart the speakers are from the rest of your kit etc. etc.

hallo everyone,
after my introduction here is my problem:

i don't hear rumble, but i can see it in the woofer.
if i close the air opening it is almost gone.
but i would like to keep it open. sounds deeper.

closest speaker is about 1,20 (4 feet) meter away from tt.

cartridge and headshell are adjusted as good as possible with
"HiFi News Test-LP - The Producer's Cut".

tt stand on wall mounted cupboard.

what remedies have people against rumble?

the hormann-audio.de active bass-device works great, but i would like
it better without.

but mikes bearing is kind of expensive for just a try.

do people have 1210 without any rumble with open woofer?

i connected the tt to my 2. system with open speakers
and it was the same.

when i put the needle down, it bumps dangerously in and out.

I have the Mike New bearing

Don't remember any rumble before I fitted it
I wonder if you need to isolate the deck better.
Perhaps the cupboard is the problem
My Technics sits on Mana supports

If you can't hear the rumble does it matter ?
Sounds odd you can *see* it !

i had the tt on a different stand on the ground
and it was the same.
the problem is that the woofer can get
damaged by moving in and out too much.
thats why they had/have rumble filter or subsonic filter
in some amps or preamps.

If you haven't already check all connections and earths.
Will a different source still give the same result ??
Go back to the most basic you can, swapping any kit you can with spares or freinds
Someone else with more technical savvy than me needs to answer

If you don't have the issue with CD and you don't have it with the port blocked then I would suggest it could be cone flap caused by warps on your records. You need a warp filter - or flatter records - or an infinite baffle speaker.

So the rumble only comes from the record deck.
Difficult to diagnose without being there
Get hold of anther deck somehow at least you can then confirm if it's your deck.
Maybe then you find your bearings are gone

Had another thought
Play the deck, amp off
Get a large knitting needle or similar and place it right against your ear and carefully, of course, on the deck
You should hear very clearly some noise at least
Is there a rumble present anywhere ?

Hallo everybody,
sorry for the endless delay.
i replaced the original 1210 bearing with the new one and i saw that the
bottom plate was bend down. i guess because the turntable was once used by a dj and he
was pressing down as he was cutting ab the beats.
it was very easy to replace the bearing. it took a careful 20 min. now i could do it in 10 min..
so everybody should be able to do it. was a little hard to get the platter of. i "hammered" the pin from
careful to medium and finally i could take the platter of.
Maybe i bend the bottom plate of the bearing myself by hammering too hard. who knows.
Anyway, i can not hear a difference in sound. too bad.
And the rumbling effect on the woofers when i put down the needle is still the same.
since i am still happy with the sound I guess that i
will wait with mike's new bearing until i feel crazy enough to do it.

Have you set the cartridge tracking weight too 1.8 grams ?
you need a set of scales or other means to set this up

You can get scales for less than £5. These are 600/0.1G and look quite neat. The seller has some interesting gadgets too.
