HI,
This is the first forum I have ever joined. I am a devoted music lover that has been hacking at my guitar's for 25 years and would like to think I have achieved some ( all be it somewhat minor) abilities in this area.
My first stereo was a Sony 5.1 surround sound system that included cd, tape and radio that cost me AU$1500 When I was 16. It sounded great but didn't compare to my fathers Rotel amp and Celestion Ditton 25's. He still has the same rig and still rivals most set ups that I've heard. I remember fondly as a child when dad would remove the covers off those speakers and CRANK UP his tunes.
The first vinyl my father gave me was Dire Straights Brothers in arms.
My first CD's were AC/DC Razors edge and Guns n Roses Use your illusion 2. My mother took me to the Gunners in Sydney when I was 12. :D
In 2002 I completed a Certificate 4 in audio engineering to try and better understand sound. I recorded a guy as part of my assessment that became my acoustic duo partner for the next five years. We would gig 3-5 nights a week in Brisbane and the Gold Coast before my fiancee and I moved to London.
My wife and I know live in Brisbane Australia and i have been researching for the most cost effective way to construct my own sound rig. Last year I purchased my Yamaha RV-X 1800 Receiver for $300 :D and a Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 sub for $200. The speakers were the remnants of my old Sony system and the sound was ok. But I wanted more...
I had been trolling through gumtree and ebay for vintage audio (my new habit) for about 6 months when I found a very good condition pair of Celestion Ditton 66's in Melbourne. After much research and re reading Marcos tales about his, I simply had to have Them!!! :scratch:
Through much planning :cool: and arguing with the funds coordinator :doh: I have secured these beauties and I will be picking them up tomorrow.
As only my farther and the people on this forum understand my exitment at the moment, I feel compelled to tell my tale to help me pass time until the moment when i get to set up my new family members.
