So, I needed a bit of further distraction today so I made these:

Knuckle dusters for when you need to get your point across more forcibly.
Hmmmm... Are they some sort of cable damper/support? (they look very well made, whatever they are!)

I reckon they're for spacing rather than damping/supporting.

Yeah, they absolutely are like mini handcuffs :).
I'm afraid the power of the hi-fi nerd is strong amongst the membership; they are, of course, spacers for ones interconnect cable!

OK, I'll bite - why??
Cos .... Well, mostly because I had a spare 15 minutes - well, I didn't, but I did them any way.
Fitted them earlier and am so pleased with them I've already altered the CAD to make some for my arm cable (which also has dual mono style construction) - will make them tomorrow.
Injection molding is your game is it mate?
You didn't make the o-rings though I bet!

I didn't injection mould them either ;).
I whittled the O-rings from selected hockey pucks using a sharpened potato peeler.
The hole in the middle is for the earth wire (which I haven't yet bothered to thread through).

I initially thought they were some kind of Medieval knackers shackles! but now i see them more to scale fitted to the cables i guess they arnt :D

They are really just a bit of fun to distract me - if you want a set I will make you one (send me a stamped addressed envelope); but you will probably have to supply your own O-rings as I am running a bit low now (you too Martin if you like).
They are a bit tricky to fit, but work well.

No, not 3D printer - laser cut from 5mm acrylic.
Just done some for my arm cable and am going to do a similar thing for the arm cable clamp where it exits the deck (I've never been happy with it).

Did you use EIHL pucks? Or did you go for the NHL ones?
I used an uneven number of each so as to avoid unfortunate resonances.

I could send you the DXF file - would need you to PM me your email address though. However, it's a 2D file and is not appropriate for 3D printing. To be honest, it's not a difficult thing to draw up yourself.

He could loft the lines in the DXF file in any 3D cad application to make a solid suitable for sending to a printer as an STL file.
I think you should manufacturer them...
Yes, you are quite right - extrude the profile by 5mm and job done. Still, half the fun is drawing out the design and this is as simplistic as it gets (well, I suppose there are even more simplistic things).

So do I - a great idea - but you'll have to make them look more "bling" and charge a small fortune for them otherwise they won't work! ;)

This interconect goes between my phonostage and my pre-amp - hence the earth cable.
I've also made the same thing for my Aro's arm cable and a cable clamp for my deck:

The problem is that they have to be sized quite specifically to each cable diameter.

I see I've missed a trick - cryogenically frozen O-rings. Perhaps I could make up for it by suggesting the acrylic elements help dissipate electrostatic charges on a quantum level through the application of nano technology?
