Does anyone know anyone who can do a smalish but simple one off wood turning job?

I would have helped you out, Andre - I still have my lathe, but I'm afraid I don't have a workshop anymore.
Sorry.

I'm wanting the below making from English or European Oak (I Can supply) But just plain no band around it does however need an half inch hole boring into the length of it to accomodate the tube. It's around 11'' long x 1.5'' diameter.

Andre

You may find the reason it has a collar is that it is made in 2 parts

It would be very difficult to drill a 11" deep hole accurately

Al it isnt in two parts, it's what i initially thought.

the turning is no problem , its the 1/2" dia hole that I may struggle with (most long hole boring lamp's etc are 8mm) ,leave it with me and I'll have a closer look tues/wed see what i can come up with.

I can try on some scrap first to see how the hole drills with an extension on my Forster bit ;)

Just my thoughts. I'd drill first, then turn concentric to the drilling.

You could also cut the oak in half, route your ½" hole, glue n turn.
It shows what appears to be simple, never is :D

Ive been thinking & it aint half smokey in here now :D However what ive noticed is the lamp tube seems to have a 1.0mm clear tube covering it, maybe the wooden piece had been slid down the lamp tube & the clear covering fitted up to it both end to hold it in place as i can only get it to spin around..
