View Full Version : What's in a name?
Firebottle

I know there are some clever folks on here who like a bit of word play.
I've been trying to come up with a name for the phono amps I will be making.
I quite like NEMESIS.
It could stand for 'Never Even Mention Edgy Semiconductor Inferior Sound', or maybe that's a bit naff.
Trouble is every attractive name I can think of has been used by an audio manufacturer or has some connection with audio/audio software. Even Nemesis has been used.
So a different tack, what about anagrams? I've come up with TOON CRAFT.
There is a tongue in cheek 'reference' to well know kit in there, can you guess what it is?

How about Firebottle Phone Amp?
I would have said 'firebottle' also as it's tube based.

Why not start a competition? Whoever comes up with the best name wins a newly branded phono amp.

Fire bottle is cool a brand name. No pun.
Phontastic.
Use valve base blue LEDs and call it "Bluebottle" Simples. When do I get my prize:D
Ok so I didn't win.....what about The Equaliser.

What about something musical, if a tad pretentious

Firebottle is a cool name no doubt about that.
Or you could call it Brian. Thats a nice name.
I'm edging towards Matilda.
Marco.

You're showing your age:D
Why is it that the main actor had so many Ds in his name. If he hadn't he would have been known as Ewar Woowar:D

How about
" Golden Glow Audio "
What about something musical, if a tad pretentious
Timbre
I like that one. Whenever a customer asks for a Timbre, an arty shot of a tree being felled would be projected on a wall in the background... (did you see what I did there?) :D

I vaguely remember an interview on the old Wogan talk show with Billy Connelly who, when discussing Mr Woodward suddenly piped up, Aah, me ole friend Edward Woodward, or as I like to call him, Fart In A Bath... :D
How about
" Golden Glow Audio "
As long as it's not Golden Shower! :D
Marco.

And the amp becomes..............:eyebrows:

On a semi serious note......
AVE which means 'to be well' as in Ave Maria and all that so there is a musical connection. (Origin: 1200 - 50 Middle English. Latin imperative 2nd singular of avere:eyebrows:)
Plus it stands for Alan's Valve Engineering;)
or..... Firebottle Alan's Valve Engineering....

I quite like that Gordon, AVE
Short but with musical connection.
(Origin: 1200 - 50 Middle English. Latin imperative 2nd singular of avere) That's a bit high brow for me.
I should have opted for Latin not German at school, hated German.
