Hi All

I am Ian from Cheshire at present. Being lurking here for a while so thought its now time to wet my feet in the conversation side of things now.

Used to DJ for fun many years ago and bought my first SL1200'S in 1985, they lasted me about twenty years before I sold them on. Have had a few in between and a few other decks like Rega, Thorens and some added arm combinations.

Now I am more into listening to music than playing around with it as I am bit older now. My current set up is a SL1200, Heatsink stock arm, Ortofon Blue Cart into a Cambridge Phono stage, Pioneer A400, Mission 753 speakers.

I listen to music in the following genres, Soul, Disco, Rock, Pop, House, Hip Hop and anything else that I like the sound of.

I am really curious about technics mods and would really to hear a modded one to hear the difference (if someone is local :))

Welcome - and you're definitely in the right place

There are a good few Techie users "up North-West" I think, so shouldn't be an issue for you to get to hear a tuned-up one. Hope you enjoy the journey - just DON'T get to hear some ton-up old big Tannoys, since if 753's are your bag, you'll be well hooked, believe me :) ;cool:

Hi Ian, welcome from me too. London, or Cheshire where you want to hear a modded Techie? Not quite sure where you are actually located at the mo. Marco is not far from Cheshire, in Wrexham, and MartinT is Basingstoke way - two of the best modded Techies you are likely to find based on what I've heard - but they have both invested heavily in the art, so be warned!

Hope you enjoy the forum, and it doesn't cost you as much as it has cost me since I joined... ;)

Hi guys, I am actually living in Macclesfield at the moment. I just noticed it also says London! sorry old home. Yeah I have read about every mod under the sun when it comes to the SL but I have never managed to hear one with the upgrades so I am only going by what I read.

Yeah the Beatles wrote a song about techie mods, it's called, the long and winding road:lol:

Yeah, but all the commission you've earned by shilling Rega etc. should have helped a bit ;) - To the OP, don't worry, it's a now long-standing joke around these parts and nothing to do with decent respectful discussion about all things audio

Ooooh Rega!

But seriously, welcome to the forum. I also have a stock 1210 which patiently waits for my time and money for modding..... Mind you, it does play records rather well as it is so I think my mods will be more towards the structural than the electronics for a kick off.
