Greetings from the middle of nowhere (aka Montana)

Hello everyone. Used to have a very decent living room audio setup back in the 1980s and 1990s, then got a life (again). Recently got back in for better computer audio and then expanded that to include a basic 2.0 setup in my living room TV, both locations being Dac and powered speakers, along with some decent cabling. The desktop will probably ending up housing the new Kenny Ciunas dac, when it arrives, along with a pair of Emotiva airmotiv 4 speakers. The living room is currently going through dac experiments to support a pair of Audioengine 5+, toslink off a 40" Samsung LCD and Patriot media box (USB video). Cabling is primarily supplied by MAC and Mapleshade (don't listen to anyone that says good HDMI cables are a waste).

Thanks for the reference, which I didn't know about (been here 5 years). I listened to Frank Zappa in the '60s, but by the time of "Montana" came out my musical tastes and life had evolved a bit.

Not country, for sure (normally). Jazz, classical, opera, some rock and pop singers, good folk (Richard Thompson) and occasionally bluegrass, whatever moves me. Blue Cheer days are long past. I'm in Bozeman. Pretty valley with mountains, parks and lots of recreation around - and conservative (so much that lots of Republicans vote Democrat, I'm told). Wages for most 1/3 less than even across the border in eastern Washington. Superficially friendly - it's an ag/tech/science/business university area vs. Missoula, e.g., which has a real liberal arts college - but people don't tailgate here that much and they will often pull over on two lane highways to let others go. After all, we're in the middle of nowhere, so what's the hurry...

Oh, OK - Bozeman. I think I remember going to see some caves paintings near there, then on to the Bear Tooth Highway - wow, some road!

Yeah, I finally did that too last summer. About 30 miles west of here (Three Forks) and then southwest alongside the Madison River to Lewis and Clark Caverns. Those highways around here south along the rivers and between mountain ranges are something else. Odd artifact of the internet age: there's a really good audio shop run out of a garage in Three Forks, pop. 1900 - Todd the Vinyl Junkie.
