View Full Version : FS: Technics SL-1200 Original
An original SL-1200, working and and good condition considering how old it is.
There are a few marks around the base but nothing major and the lid is lightly scratched but still shines. It needs a new cartridge and head shell leads. The cartridge is a Shure V15 Type IV but one channel is very low.
Hinges and lid are fully working and not broken. The lid does have a postcode marked on the front edge but its not unsightly.
Strobe working and deck holds its speed. 45rpm adapter is missing.
£150 collected from AL9 6HJ (Hatfield, Herts) or I can box and post but probably cost about £12.00.
I have added some links to pics on Flickr:

I'm guessing but I think that price is fine for what you have there.
If I was after a Technics to mod up I'd be happy starting here

Thanks for the price check / bump.
ALL this deck really needs is good isolation - feet and possibly a modern mat, something not taken into account when the 1200 and 1100 were current models - hanging the structure on cotton threads to get the specified rumble figures.......
The 1200 had a fully enclosed motor, the platter then sitting on the top of this. Later models cheapened this to have the magnet assembly affixed to the platter :)
Hope it finds a good home :)
This has to go before building work starts, so £100 + post.

You must be using a pishanto browser - and besides, you've bought worse than a panda at the boot sales! ;)

If no takers here try Ebay. You must get a lot more than £100

Is this Techie still for sale?
I'm looking for a second deck and was considering a Rega RP3 or similar but the SL1200 for £100 looks like it could be a great little project for me to tinker with.

About 35 or so miles....
Was a little hesitant about picking up such an early model but feeling more confident as I gradually read through the abundant info on here.
Now looking at places to source spares and upgrade options etc.
Could anyone confirm if the headshells common between all the 1200/1210 models please?
Yes - the headshells are standard.
