Revo Mondo DAB Radio Module

Bought one of these second hand ostensibly to listen to Jazz FM on my Hi-FI and my goodness what a complete bargain.

I usually listen to FM on my A&R T21 and have a very good high gain FM ariel but I couldn't get Jazz FM on, ehrm, FM so decided to try this small device out not expecting much but I am gobsmacked, just as I'm gobsmacked at the quality of the Jazz FM broadcast which is only at 64kbs but the sound is fantastic.

I only discovered Jazz FM earlier on this year when my daughter bought a new VW polo that has a very good entertainment set up which includes a DAB radio amongst other stuff but I didn't fancy going down the internet route to listen to it in the house.

Paid £40 for this device from a guy on AV forums last week and am totally enjoying it so much so that I;ve disconected my CD player to plug the module into my amp. The new price is £69 I believe.

Wow, that looks like a total bargain, I've loved Jazz FM over the years (I became a little unhealthily obsessed with Claire Anderson at one point!) but only via internet or kitchen system - I also listen to BBC Radio 6 Music quite a bit, but it would be great to have it all on the main system - cheers for the heads-up Tony. :)

I've got one of their 'radio alarms' but have been using it in one of my systems for internet radio.

Thanks Alex, the thing that amazes me about this thing is the aerial which is just a bit of thin wire and all I've done is hang it over my TT.

There is a wee bit of sibilance on the presenter's voices during talking bits of the broadcasts but the music sounds great .

BBC radio 6 broadcasts at 128kbs and sounds ok but nothing like Jazz FM which only broadcasts at 64kbs. I've no idea why that is but even in the car Jazz FM sounds by far the best of all the digital radio stations I've listened to.

The sound is much fuller to my ears and with loads more volume than the other stations.

PS, the reviews on Amazon of the internet version of this were very poor indeed BTW otherwise I would have bought that one instead.

The remote is very very thin and a bit basic but it does work pretty well.

I've a Humax Freesat box and it's remote is the worst remote that I have ever used, you actually have to stand in front of the unit to do anything.

The Humax box itself is very good though.

Hi guys, this is for anyone interested and who is using one of these Revo Mondo radios.

I was having real problems controlling the volume of the Revo Mondo which was connected up to my A&R A60 integrated via a pair of phonos, as per the Revo's instruction manual.

The volume was either way too loud or too quiet or only one speaker would have an output which was very frustrating and very difficult to get right anyway there is a volume control on the Revo's remote for controlling the volume of the headphone output so I just connected the headphone output on the radio to the amp's phono input using a cheap cable I had lying about such as the one in the link below and the volume output is now controllable.

Probably not stereo now but at least I can now listen to the Revo.
