View Full Version : Instrumentals from Bands that don't normally do Instrumentals
Time for another collaborative playlist. :)
As the title says - I'm after instrumental tracks from bands that normally do songs, e.g.
Fleetwood Mac - Albatross
Viqr6KHwJjc
Simple Minds - Theme for Great Cities
NBSotxpthXQ
Ultravox - Astradyne

There's an entire album for you Alex and it is pretty good too ;)
Excellent, thanks for those chaps. :)

Rainbow ~ 'Vielleicht Das Nachste Mal' ('Maybe Next Time')
This is an epic track and I have just spent over an hour looking for it. I last heard this playing on a jukebox in The Harbour Lights pub in Northampton in 1981. All I had to go on was that it was a 'B' side to one of the bands singles and that I vaguely remembered that it had a German title. Gotta love the internet :)

The B-side of Manfred Mann's Davey's On The Road Again is a great instrumental, Bouillabisse.
Must look for a mp3 of it.

Thanks Alex, found an mp3 which sounds reasonable. Forgot about the tempo change 2/3 of the way through and the few vocals nearing the end. Still think of it as an instrumental. Thanks for looking.

Actually, the mp3s sound pretty good using my Nokia 5800 and Aiwa HP-V 151 'phones and better than my memory of the single played on a Thorens 160/Hadcock/VMS 20E/Pioneer SA 508/Castle Richmonds. Out of the two I found the low 3.7 Mb sounds preferable to the 9.1 one.
But then, maybe I'm just deaf!

One of my favourite metallica tracks, worth a go even (or perhaps especially) if you're a non metaller

David Bowie - 'Speed of Life'

Janis Joplin - 'Buried Alive in the Blues'
spotify:track:5zSQuxwMcNdJ3i3o2VsqUN

Not being especially interested in them, I'm not sure if they did any other instrumentals, nor in fact if this is a proper instrumental, but how about:
Madness - 'One Step Beyond'

Thanks Chris, I knew there'd be more! :)

Oh yes, and if you can find one with ping-pong balls a 10 point bonus!

Just playing through the Spotify playlist, and this sort of music isn't normally my cup of tea but golly, this is an amazing track and live performance!

Smashing Pumpkins - 'Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness'
Gosh - almost in tears after that one it feels so sad! I'll check out the whole album, thanks Chris...
And thanks Dan, too - I love the Richard Thompson track, that cheered me up again! (And it segues superbly into the Mark Knopfler track!)

Can we have non instrumentals from bands that just do instrumentals? I could then choose Tangerine Dream ''Bent Cold Sidewalk'' from the crap LP with a great cover ('Cyclone') It's not their fault it's just 1978
I'd better do a runner before Dave R & Sparrow come along :D
