TT Pitch Shift!

Im using a Servo controlled DC turntable & after running for half an hour ive noticed a slight pitch shift every now & then! If i slightly tailor the pitch + the next pitch shift is faster & like wise if i tailor - the pitch shift is slow but both immediatly spring back to true pitch speed.. My initial thoughts are with the old carbon pitch pot that maybe drifting out of tolorence!

Has anyone encountered this with their say Direct Drives? I plan completely rebuilding the motor board ie tighter tolorance Pitch control pots for one.. but was just curious.

It's definatly not a motor, dirty pulley or belt issue.

Sure, have. Once with a Technics SL-D2 and once with a Sony something or other. I ended up ditching both and sticking with the usual suspect. ;) In retrospect, I suppose I could have replaced the pots; but, just didn't feel it was worth it.

I don't see how a pot could cause this issue - sounds more like a capacitor failing to hold its charge or similar.

Cap where do you think on the PWM board?

A full rebuild was my initial plan Mark..I was just a bit suprise that the TT just suddenly stopped. However on the rebuild note, i do think it needs a better 12V PSU..

What you need is a nice reliable (and accurate) direct-drive T/T, dude - no wavering or pitch shift there! ;)

Over my dead body would i buy another DD TT but im sure you already know that :eyebrows:

However if it turns out to be an Electrolytic cap problem you time will come ;)
