Enjoyed listening to this but I want to concentrate on my Garrard 401 so it's up for grabs. I doubt if you'll find one better unless it's new. Fitted with a Linn LVX Plus and a K9 cart. The cover is near mint as are the hinges. Not receiving much feedback so if this fails I will regrettably sell off as Arm, Cart, cover and plinth/deck. I understand the inbuilt P/S was a fore- runner for the Lingo. Any interest please PM me. Location N/E.
I'm also interested in a Naim 180 etc. to run with my Uniti, although if it needs a recap etc the price should reflect this. Might be interested in a swap with a cash consideration either way.

Don't break it up whatever. Provided the power supply does not develop the dreaded buzz it is a nice package. Certainly better than a planar 3 IMHO. The K9 holds it back. A Goldring 1042 was a match made in heaven. All based on experience as a former owner of the same version. Frankly prefered it to LP12/Basic arm.

No buzz at all, runs very quiet. Will give it until the weekend then I think it must go. Just seen a lid go for over £80 and this one is excellent. Maybe selling for parts is a good option. Time will tell.

I had one for about 15 years and absolutely loved it. Then the speed control packed in and Linn wouldn't have the board back, but did say they'd liaise with a local dealer of my choice to fix it - how much of an open cheque would that have been I wondered?

At the time they were selling used, but working, for around £200. I broke it and sold everything - even the faulty PCB went for about £15.

Cleared more than the £200. Sad but true.

So, reluctantly open to offers for a fully working and silent running Axis.
Could be sold as plinth with platter, arm, cart, lid. Sad really as it sounds great as is. If it took 15 years to develop a fault , not bad going.

Stick it on Ebay. A much worse one is on £154 with 15 hours to go. Should fetch over £200 in top condition.

Yes, you may be right: nothing lasts forever, but it was Linn's approach to after sales care that disapointed me. They weren't exactly going out of business - and their products have never been cheap. I was more than prepared to PAY if Linn were going to fix it - it was involving a third party I wasn't so keen on.

Contrast that with Leema, who sent a van to pick up my faulty CD player, replaced the drive and had it back to me within 10 days (which included a 5 day soak).

I think it's the difference between a good company and a great company.

Ok Bob, Just thought the thread was going down the faulty item route, when it is acually one of the best I've seen. Sad but these days turntables seem to realise more in bits than complete.
