After a room renovation accompanied by some acoustic treatment.. I thought I can now share my system pics without being too embarrassed.
Please be gentle.. I am a beginner, but I love my system and good music to the core.

Nice tidy set up, but where are you hiding the turntable?
Nice set up great to see some room treatment, the B&Ws are great speakers I used to have the cdm1nt's loved em :)

Thanks. It just felt bad not letting the system do its best because of bad acoustics.. hence the room treatment. It was important for me since its a hard walled room, with a bare wall to the left and a high ceiling compared to the length and width.
The B&Ws are indeed great.. and I especially love what they do with classical music.
Next step, getting a sturdy rack.. that is, after something else I have in the pipeline has made its entry :)
Nice room, Tirthankar. Room treatment can go a long way to ameliorate poor sound and yours looks like it's well damped.

Saw in your signature that you are using WASAPI - Event Style.. Have you tried ASIO? It gives me a better end result! ;)

Nice room, Tirthankar. Room treatment can go a long way to ameliorate poor sound and yours looks like it's well damped.
I tried making the listening spot a reflection free zone, but also trying to make sure that I didn't over-damp the room. The side panels have been made to work as broadband absorbers as much as possible, by putting almost two inches of air gap in the back of the panel and sealing it all around. Also the portions of the panel which are not in the first reflection zone have been covered in 3/8" plywood to work as slats and take care of low-mids and below.

I had tried Asio earlier, but that was with Foobar. I have not tried it with JRiver. Thanks for the suggestion, will try that out.

Thanks.. I guess I am pretty lucky to have a dedicated listening room which I can mould to my needs.
And also not having any W, WAF is not a problem :cool:

Thanks. Its not really a tapestry but is a carpet, which I rigged up in a fashion so that it can be hung on the wall.
I wanted the front wall to help in absorption besides looking good, and I felt a tapestry would be too thin to be effective as an absorber. :)

I'll be the first then eh, system for girls Tirthankar, you need a turntable to butch it up, Garrard 301/401, job done. ;)
Your speakers seems quite severely toed in or is it the angle of camera shot? (axis crossing in front of listening position),
does it need as much even with room treatment?, how far do you sit in relation to them?,
it seems very forward into the room compromising the bass traps effectiveness, do you not like the sound pushed further back?.
P.S. only joking about girlie rig quip, your sys is very nice, it was really a poke at Alex.:D
One question: don't you find the PC noisy in that environment?

A turntable is indeed in the horizon, I have a good and eclectic collection of vinyls (Hugo Montenegro, Neil Diamond, lots of Cliff Richard, Ventures, Daliah Lavi, and loads of eastern music, to name a few) which I would like to put into good use.
Your speakers seems quite severely toed in or is it the angle of camera shot? (axis crossing in front of listening position),
does it need as much even with room treatment?, how far do you sit in relation to them?.
I guess its the camera angle. At the moment they are crossing right at the listener's head, though earlier they crossed before. I sit at a distance of a little more than 8 feet from each of the tweeters.

I tried optimizing the PC with the quietest components possible.. SSD, two fans only (one for the cpu and one as case fan)
The cpu cooler and case fan were selected after a lot of research. Here's what I use:

Those things are pretty damn quiet. But when the time (and wallet !) are right, I plan on moving to a completely passively cooled setup, and banish fans altogether.

DAC is a PS Audio Digital Link 3, upgraded by Cullen Circuits to stage 4(Rick Cullen is the guy who is behind the W4S brand). Fed by coax from my Asus Essence STX PC sound card.
Volume control is a custom made one, with a 23 step Seiden switch and takman carbon resistors, load resistors are Vishay Z-foil. Case is a custom one made locally, for around 4 GBP. Nothing fancy but gets the job done. After looking at the snap on my PC realized that some of the screws were not tightened, but too lazy to tighten and take another snap. Hope no one minds.. :peace:

Very nice. Simple and effective way to get the best out of your file based audio. Only thing I'd suggest is a quieter PC perhaps, like a netbook with all your files safely stored on a nas drive somewhere.
As for WAF, my Mrs would love me if my system was as minimalist as this. As it stands there's gear in 3 rooms and spare/broken stuff in a cupboard. All very tasteful yours is.

Actually its more of a box room which used to be a bathroom before the place was extended. There's a PA system, stands, microphones, rack with mixer effects and power amps, a couple of stage monitors, some fishing and camping gear and several guitars along with numerous bags of cables. She is a patient woman my Mrs.

Nice Turthankar! The B&W's are great speakers. I also have a soft spot for the older Quad amps. I found the 33/303 really musical.

Cheers.. It sounds real nice too :) .. especially after I replaced some of the older capacitors, the sound tightened considerably.

Thank you very much. The PC is pretty quiet as it is, since I use very quiet fans.. hardly audible from the listening seat without straining. But in time I would like to go for quieter to completely silent.
Regarding your cupboard full of old gear.. I can't say I won't have a similar cupboard once I have spent as many years in this hobby as some of you have

And the quad is a little Champ. Driven brilliantly by the passive and has enough power to make the speakers sing in my small room.
