View Full Version : Atlas interconnects revisited

Having been a user of Van Den Hul D102 HB MkIII's for around twenty years and having recently changed to Atlas Equator interconnects I would like to share a glaring finding with you. One of my favourite albums of all time is 'Acadie' by Daniel Lanois and the opening track, 'Still Water'. On this track there appears to be a skinned tambourine being struck way back in the mix which appears to come from the next street. Using the Atlas interconnects it is blindingly obvious that this is in fact a clasped cymbal which is being played with some precision. Voila...! Obvious point No.1.

Not sure which bit you're talking about Shaun, 'cos there's clasped hi-hat work throughout the bulk of the song, and there's tambourine that comes in on the choruses.

I'm referring to the main intro part not the choruses.

In that case there's something fundamentally wrong with the VdH cable if you were hearing tambourine noises of any sort when there were none.

Had a listen to the Atlas Hyper cable recently.
Very VERY good at bringing out the little details in upper mid and treble.
Sure the Equator is similar.

Almost surgical the way it laid open the mix in some songs.
Great cable, the bass didn't do it for me in my system though, so it went back.

Yeah I agree with you in that the bass is a little restrained but with the Van Den Hul's it was always fat and bloated which I really wasn't happy with.

The Atlas cables are infinitely superior to the old Van Den Hul's in just about every aspect

Which Equator do you have?The MKII, the Superior or the MK III ?I have the Equator Mk II with a Densen B 110/Rega DAC but I wonder if my system needs an Hyper?Or am I fine?
