Rediscovering old IC's

Just having a rummage through the spaghetti ball of wires under my bed, and found a pair of NVA Sound Cords that I used to like.

Plumbed them back in out of curiosity, (in place of the Belkin white things, and was very pleasantly surprised at how they sound.

Now I don't know whether anyone else finds that they prefer the sound of their wires "cold" as opposed to being run in for a while, assuming you think that makes any difference.

The plus side is I keep the money in my pocket I was going to spend on some new IC's! :)

Use NVA Sound Chords myself; and think they're pretty good.

Others I have to compare are Morrow Audio MA1, Van Den Hul D103 Hybrid, Rega Clone with Neutrik Profi, Rega Clone with WBT Cu, DNM Reson.

Well, the honey-monster himself tells me via his thread about us here that the LCR of his cables are as low and benign as possible and so they shouldn't have any matching issues at all, as long as they're used with respect at the plug ends.

Such a shame RD is his own worst enemy as, had he kept more civil here and joined in more rather than upsetting all and sundry, more of us would certainly have been willing to try his stuff. A positive experience with an interconnect can sow seeds of a bigger purchase shortly after, like a phono stage nexr, followed by am amp for example.....

I don't want to get a bollocking for replying to this, but your comments remind me of when I told the truth that I personally found the Sound Cord to be a better cable than some SP's I'd had, and I got verbal four letter abuse for daring to say that, from a certain not to be named person!

I had the misfortune to read some of the threads on his forum today and was quite shocked about how much hard effort he puts into painting AoS as a collection of shills, sycophants and arse lickers. He names you Dave as one of the biggest sinners in that respect, so tell me in total confidence between you and me only of course, how does Marco's ring piece taste? :lol: As you say, there is a form of talent in the man but it is well hidden these days in the sea of bile he swims in.

Never tried the Sound Cords, but I did have the Sound Pipes a few years ago and they sounded half tidy, especially in the bass. I cracked them open for a peek and they looked remarkably similar to semi-rigid fire alarm cable with cheap Neutrik RCAs fitted which lended themselves well to this cable as it happens.

Well, thank heavens there's so many good cheapie interconnect makers on fleabay (Pro Audio Shop and Soundstable to name but two I've bought from with great service), 2.4m Belkins are still around and for those with a bit more dosh, there's Mark Grant and others I haven't tried yet (I have listened extensively to my "newly acquired" Atratus IC but the jury's out so far - it's very good for the money, but I think the HD1000 edges it). The MG HD1000 stock 1m lead is now around £50 I think and I doubt there's much if anything wrong with the wire itself, since it's the plugs which fine tune it - AND, he's a great chap to deal with and extremely concerned and helpful too :)
