After choking on me tea at the cost of the latest TQ cable (£3,600.00 for a stereo pair :eek:), I wondered what I could more rationally spend such a sum of money on.

As I've been saying for about 18 months or so now, I'm done with farting about with cables. I found myself a sensible solution for cabling my entire system (apart from tonearm cables) for well under £100. And please note that this is a system with a pre-amp, 2 solid state bi-amped power amps with an alternative of a valve amp, two turntables, three phono stages, a cd player, two reel to reels (one of which is 5 metres away from the pre-amp) and two tuners. The two power amp alternatives have their own dedicated interconnect and speaker cables to enable simple changeovers. A the moment there's also a seperate dac/pre being fed from the freeview box, dvd player a laptop when needed. How much would that lot have cost if I'd succumbed to Tellurium Delirium?

How to spend the odd £3.6k rattling around in my pockets? I'd go on a music buying trip with our Tim - loblocks to cables! And while we're at it, loblocks to a salesman's definition of 'serious audiophilia' too. If you aspire to that sort of approval, then good luck to you and God help your wallet.

If the 2A3 model is any better than the 6V6 it must be awsome. My 6V6 is only specified at 4 watts per channel, but seems to have bags of poke and sounds truly amazing and it's getting better by the day (burning in I suppose).

Nonono, they are great, I have a Sportronic 166 at the moment, as well as an auto 164. In sport mode they fly.

Yes Geoff, it's the Raphaelite 2A3. I spotted it some time ago when I found a Chinese hub http://Aliexpress.com I loved the '50s simple, honest, quality it had - and it's got meters. The other is a Yaquin MA 2A3. You get an awful lot of bottle for £650 261018870596

My Audioromy FU 29 took about 6 weeks of light use to burn-in. Tad disappointed with it at first. After the 6 weeks however it opened up and I got the see/hear through quality I was hoping for - and vocal dynamics really had me smiling. For £199 I just can't complain.

I have a six-speed Steptronic in my turbo-diesel BMW and it's a great combo with the flappy paddles making for some very spirited country driving. I can imagine that the gorgeous Alfa would be equally nice with such a box.

I recently got a ticket for doing 70 in a 60 limit whilst driving a 140mph car. Fast cars are nice, but a waste of time really. All they do is get you to the next tailback or roadworks faster than the next guy, but your average remains pretty slow.
