What a POXY job !!!!!!! :steam:

I have a van and it decided to leak diesel all over the road , its been like it for several weeks now but the weather has been crap so I left it

Today was the day to sort it :) sun shining slight breeze ( DRY ) :)

Its a big van 3.5 ton with side skirts so had to jack up the front and rear and put blocks under the wheels on the driver side to allow enough room to get under it

Next siphon out 75 ltrs of fuel into fuel cans :rolleyes:

Then crawl underneath and unbolt the tank , lift it off the chassis and lower it to the ground , I could then see the pick up pipe going into the top of the tank and also a split , Found it !!! :D

Off to the spares shop for a new section of fuel hose and 2 clips

Back home , fit the pipe , tank back up , put all the fuel back in , Off the blocks back to the ground , start the old girl up , JOB done :D

Left it running for a few minutes while I put all the tools away

When I pulled the jack out from underneath I could see fuel dripping on the floor :steam::steam::steam:FU-K :steam::steam::steam:

So do it all again and have a look at the return pipe that also had a split in it :doh:

So all day removing and refitting the bloody fuel tank twice


AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaarr :eek::eek:


Fired it up again and it now appears to be OK


Will give it a run around the block tomorrow


I did not want to do the job getting to old for crawling around under vehicles now , I had phoned 2 Mobile fitters and nether of them bothered to turn up during the 2 weeks I have not been using it

Still Fingers crossed it sorted now :)

I gotta get under my bloody car tomorrow to sort out a seized handbrake. Like you I am getting too old to go crawling around on dirty concrete under dirty oily things that spits dust and crap in your eyes and removing skin off hands.

Bet you're cursing you didn't check thoroughly when you had the tank out the first time. I know I would be.

I still haven't had the cambelt off my van for checking. I left it all through the cold weather as I wasn't planning to use the van anyway for a while. It's a bugger to reach, the engine is under the seats and the view and access are very limited. No excuses now the weathers bucked up.

I had enough bother last autumn changing half the exhaust with all the bolts rusted in.
