What Feet - Squishy, hard or other ?

There are plenty of feet for our kit, but do we need them or is there something else required when sitting on Mana and similar supports and racks ?

My Technics has soft squishy feet and sits on a spiked glass top, spiked eventually into the floor.
The LP12 has similar
Most of my kit had rubber like feet, but are they the best for Mana and the like ?
I've tried some wooden cones and didn't think there was much difference if any.
Not keen as the kit can slide around, maybe even get knocked off. This would be a 'bad thing'

hi mike, i have just put some wooden cones under my sony bdp that i thought id thrown. bass seems to have tightened up a bit,not amazingly so but noticable. i had forgotten about the sliding about , what a pain :doh:

oak cone feet, delrin feet, rdc feet, soborthane feet, squash balls, squash balls sat on ceramic footers, stillpoints, squash balls inside glass tea lighters, they have all had a try (one in the last 3 days)

I have to say the best in my system is delrin, don't know why but just is (delrin is acetal, a thermoplastic) in cone form, oh and the silicone circle thingys that someone else on AOS was selling are quite good too but not as good as delrin.

I will post you a selection to "play" with when I get chance Mike. It's the least I can do after you saved me yet again with your lightning fast turnaround printing my brochures!

There is the ability to screw them in of course, but it seems we have to use 3 and I don't fancy drilling any cases

You could use super glue to stick 'em on :lol:

I bottled out of it and used double sided carpet tape instead in case i changed my mind.

Are any feet or items to go under kit, like cones or Black Ravioli type things capable of doing a job so good or reasonable enough you can do without a rack, especially if pushed for space with just one or 2 boxes ?

If you already have a good rack/support system are you wasting your time with super duper feet or similar ?

Under my cd player it made a bigger difference than i was expecting ( using oak cones). This may be due to the fact that i don't use a bespoke rack?

I've got some cones so could have a compare sometime.
Have to think out how as it could have 'features'

Well, all these things make a tiny difference - not always better, sometimes just different.

In your case, you need a rack. You have far too much kit to lay out on the floor.

If you want to experiment with feet, decouplers or couplers, try 6mm nuts, furniture feet, offcuts of hardwood, kitchen bumpers, foam, lightly inflated inner tubes etc. Don't waste hundreds and hundreds of Pounds on foo. For instance, I've seen high quality kitchen end grain cutting boards with a foo badge going for hundreds, when the same thing (minus badge) is 50 quid.

i didnt fancy drilling either so attached them with a tiny bit of blu tac , also put a bit of blu tac behind the rear cones to stop the whole sliding of the back of my av rack, seems to have worked.i tried 3 and it didnt seem stable at all so im using 4:) the other other 4 are now under the bushmaster and has to sit on top of the bdp due to lack of space, looks a bit odd:rolleyes:

Yes, let your imagination run riot and you should find something to suit for notta, lotta dosh.

The chopping board on top of a partially inflated inner tube is a good one and saves you several hundred Pounds on the foo version.
