Having a bit of an issue with tapatalk on my ipad which is now the main way I view the forum.
It seems that there are a lot of images that don't open in the app but launch in a new browser which is a pita and starting to spoil my whole experience.
I'm trying to understand what options people have when they include an image. I use img tags and my images are usually in photobucket and mine seem to open in the app. I use the "img code"

Just wondering if direct HTML works and as a result people are using this instead? There must be a technical explanation.

Can a few of you post a pic and include the actual code you use so I can try and apply some logic to this issue please.

I don't really want to Alan!!! It's really inconvenient to bring the desktop to bed!!!!!!
Was just looking to understand why pictures display differently and to understand what people are actually doing to provide some feedback to tapatalk.

I use my iPhone as described after all your posts you may resort to that browser - its what they are for.
Both your images show in TT2 on my iPhone BTW.

All of the above images in the thread open fine within TT on my iPad.
Look like TTver2 isn't out yet for the iPad.
Would still be nice to see the code for some of the other pics that want to load in browser rather than the app.

And i actually think it is a photobucket/imageshack behaviour, compare with this one:

(Latest one is my own, linking to a bigger image using a smal image as referrer)
When just using img-tags the small image is displayed like dis:

And based on these tests, i would say that embedding your image using only the [ img ]-tag is the preferred way for users of Tapatalk (Images are displayed instantly within TT)
Problem is, users that are using photobucket/imageshack to show pics wont be able to do that... These site's dont allow linking to pictures directly i believe...
They would be missing out on too much advertizing money that way...

Yes you can, I do so all the time ('Photobucket') - in fact that seems to be their primary purpose; there is even a wizard for specifically copying the img code complete with img tags so it can just be pasted in (assuming they are your own images).

You are probably right! But why don't all of the photobucket/imageshack users ONLY copy and paste the (img)-code then? And leave out the (url)-bit?

I don't know Mike, fair question. I think a surprisingly large number of forum users are more technically naive about such matters than many suspect; I often see dead links, links to password protected accounts, IMG tags added when they already exist etc.
To be honest, I think Tapatalk is pretty slick with regard to the way it handles images.
I guess people will only do what they want.
I ALWAYS use the img tags and so my images open within the app.
Upgrades to the way URL tags are handled mean that its possible to use them for pics and tapatalk just see's them as urls rather than pics.
The resolution is for a URL NOT to show an image if used. That way people would use IMG tags and there would never be a problem.
Sounds like its knackered by design then!!! :scratch::(
I think I've found the problem.
In the picture attached, you can see that the WRONG code is being used for pictures
The link is suffixes by an additional ".html" which means its treated as a web page and not an image. The forum code is clever enough to show it as an image. I guess it's where people are using the link function to insert images rather than the insert image function.
Mods is this correct? It's a right pain in the arse!
