As a new member it was suggested I put some pics up. I've just redone my tutorial so we'll see if it works.

I've already said there's nothing exotic here, just what I think is some honest basic stuff that works for me. I'm not a serial upgrader - in fact auditioning is not a process I'm particularly enthusiastic with and I'm usually glad when it's over. I hear people say "just go to the dealer and listen". I've not heard anything yet that sounds the same at home as it does at the dealer so that doesn't work for me. Luckily I still have some excellent dealers not too far away who are very generous with their "try before you buy" approach.

First off, the electronics and never under estimate the value of a good sofa. Not so good when you get too comfy and wake up at 1:00 in the morning, cold because the CH has turned itself off, wife's gone to bed and left you there and you have to creep upstairs trying not to wake her. Am I the only one this has happened to?

More or less from the top:-

LP12 with a few mods plus Ittok II and AT OC9 MLII (The cart's got to go - but what to get?)

Leema Antila IIs (Few believe me how good this sounds). My benchmark, and I'm playing "Vinyl catch up" - but I think that's why the cartridge needs changing: more suggestions please.

Musical Fidelity A5cr Preamp (with MM/MC phono stage).

Icon Audio PS 1.2 Phono Amp

Leema Elements DAC and Lenovo IdeaCentre Q180 linked to the Acer Touch Screen above the LP12 which controls the streaming side of life. The Lenovo unit runs nothing else except MediaMonkey (and occasionally iTunes). Album art is downloaded via the Wi-Fi link to the router in another room. Internet radio is not something I'm interested in so Wi-Fi's fine.

Below this level is a WD 2 TB hard drive and Linn Lingo power supply for the T/T.

Sitting on the very bottom shelf adding balast is the unbelievably heavy Musical Fidelity A5cr Power Amp.

Small enough to sit in the palm of your hand is the Lenovo remote control. A gem of an item, full Qwerty keyboard with media controls as well. If it could only get me a beer, life would be perfect.

It's an LP12 sitting on an Apollo shelf bolted into the wall. Not much more to say.

Down at the other end of the room I have a pair of ProAc Response D28's, bought about 2 years ago to replace some B+W CM7's (which were excellent - but they weren't ProAc's).

There's also a screen/6.1 surround amp and DVD player that does DVD-A and SACD. Bought to appease my children when they were still living at home but rarely put into use now. Maybe shake the windows a bit on a Saturday night with a bit of Floyd, Quo or Rolling Stones but it's not my main interest.

Taking these pix has made me realise that it all looks a bit too cramped. Need to clear some space and move the DVD-A / SACD player up so I can try it with the Leema DAC. Oh yes, get the cables dressed as well - never dull is it.....?

Awesome setup. Always nice to have some pictures. Your CDs look very organised - makes me want to go and sort mine out even though I don't listen to them and prefer the LP12!

Thats a really nice looking system and listening room you have there. Looks fairly exotic to me in terms of the kit!

I don't like LP12's but always thought those light Afro plinths looked nice.

Yes I was wondering that. Is it carpet? if I put that down in my room it would be black within seconds - likewise the sofa. Good selection of kit though.

Oh yes, the carpet. Well, some decisions in life we look back on and think "inspired!". Some we look back on and think we were definitely at home when mr cock up came calling.

The logic at the time was that it was a room for one purpose only so minimal traffic, and it wasn't expensive: if it had to be chucked out after a few years so be it. The reality is that it's survived surprisingly well, although the Great Red Wine Disaster of 2008 nearly saw it off. Likewise it has a poor opinion of coffee and any derivative of cola.

Would I do it again? 'Course not.

Lovely system, there. I've always wondered about the Leema electronics - I loved their Xavier speakers - but haven't as yet gotten around to them.

(I should explain Bob, there's a bit of an "in" joke about my fondness for curtains, lilac curtains especially - not even sure how it came about now, but I do get ribbed about it sometimes!)

We're a bit of a mad bunch here Bob; our teasing you about curtains and carpets, and the quoting of lyrics, is just our way of showing you that you have been accepted into our community.

Anyway curtains and carpet aside, you do have a lovely looking (and I daresay lovely sounding) system that is also very neat and tidy. :)
