I'd love to see some actual data on who is the best. Who gets the most solid bonding of stylus to canti, closest to the original tip mass, most accurate alignment, greatest lifespan after re-tipping, all that jazz.

I'll go for the one that can transform an Audio-Technica into a Koetsu.

Marco.

If you only played jap vinyl, I suspect your request would be the other way round

I'd recommend EsCo if you can wait and I've used them myself in the past, since they can do almost anything to cartridges, rebuilds etc., as well as manufacturing OEM styli, grafting broken cantilevers and fitting new diamonds on to existing good cantilevers. I understand that many styli come redy bonded to cantilevers, only needing trimming and carefully bonding to the coils/magnet. This does save a lot of hassle..

Plus 1 more for EsCo.

I've had a couple of 103's that they built for me. Well worth the wait :D

Is there an internet link for EsCo - Google is not coming up with anything?

ESCO rebuilt a Helikon for me and B'Jesus it sounded good, they won't give you any flim-flam either:)

I've used Soundsmith for 3 cartridges and always done a good job (but slow, 3 months) not sure I would send them anything too exotic, but sub £750 carts would be 100% OK.
