If anyone is interested, hereīs my 3-box phono set-up consisting Salas LV regulator into fixed value (26dB and 560 ohms load impedance ) head amp (Piccolo) and rebuilt P10 circuit with both NOS and new teflons, Schinkohs etc.) fed from a Choke power supply into the HV Salas regulator.
I thought my previous Linto was quiet but his is something else but I have no idea how it compares with upmarket phonos. Probably horribly OTT cost-wise (I darenīt do the sums) but as it took several months to source everything it was "bearable".
Suffice to say I am chuffed and think it will see me out for some time.
P.S. The biggest bang was the last part of the puzzle - fitted last week, a 10uF/600v Russian teflon bypassing the Solen on the HV board. Absolutely mind-blowing the way it brought up the bass and mids level. I suspect the power supply of any phono stage is well worth closer inspection in the majority of cases.
P.S. All this was done for me by a mate. When it comes to electronics and soldering, I am a mediocre woodworker .
