WTD - Cheap as chips tonearm

I need a Rega fit tonearm to resurrect an old turntable for use in my son's bedroom system.

Would prefer something in good working order with no dud bearings and dodgy wiring - fingers recently burnt!

Got a mysterious arm kicking about here, if you can get your fingers burnt by rewiring it yourself, you can have it for nowt,
if you want to save your fingers i can drop it off to J7 and you and him could agree price of work needed,
not Rega fit and definitely one for high compliance carts though.

Am of to work at 1.30pm and won't be home till 10pm, plenty of time for you to think about it or take other offers.

P.S. pics added, have the counterweight and outrigger weight in parts box, will dig it out when i get home tonight.

That looks a lot like a NEAT tonearm if memory serves. Shouldn't be bad at all once a counterweight and mounting-base is made and possibly one of Johnnie's Bias add-ons fitted, since the original didn't come with one :)

Thanks for the info Dave, yes the bearings feel really really good in the swing test, and the quality of the metal and machining is none too shabby at all,
must have been a good unit in it's day, the outrigger works exactly like the SME 3009 in that the heavier the cart,
the further out the outrigger goes and the VTF weight moves forward, also comes with a very old cartridge with a kinda mass plate inside the headshell,
tried to take flash pic but didn't work out, will try again in natural light in the morning.

I 'think' that's an AT55 cartridge, big treble suckout followed by a huge peak at 15kHz I remember, the sound being likened to "over bright "HiFi" and with ringing IIRC from HiFi Sound (why do I remember all this sh*t and yet forget everything else?)

Since the counterweight(s) are there, should be an easy job to get that arm working and sounding bang up to date, but IMO it ought to have a bias corrector thread-n-weight system added if it can be done sympathetically :)
