Terry Scott as Cardinal Wolsey:

Sid James as Henry:
"Particularly when you haven't had your bow out for some time".

Sid James' delivery is just classic. Hard to picture him being a South African hairdresser.

There's a great bit in (I think) Carry on up the Khyber when a big bloke bangs a gong right next to the Kenneth Williams' characters's head, and Williams hisses 'Rank stupidity!'

He was brilliant in Hancock's Half Hour too. So much so that Hancock had to get rid of him.

This is my second favourite line. I thought it was original filmwise, but apparantly the line was used much, much earlier.

True. Sid James' work with Hancock was classic. I think this gets forgotten. He took it quite personally (and who wouldn't?) when Hancock axed him. But that was Hancock's insecurity. He was his own worse enemy. They were a great double act, but that wasn't what Hancock wanted.

Sid James died locally, at Sunderland Empire Theatre.

He was always one of my heroes growing up. That laugh he did that said it all, worldly-wise but at the same time devil-may-care.

I love the character names in Carry On as well - Sir Sidney Ruff-Diamond, Doctor Nookey, Doctor Prod and Frankie Howard as Mister Biggar. They crack me up.

In Carry On Up The Khyber there is a scene with Charles Hawtrey painting a red line in the Governor's residence courtyard and Terry Scott asks what he's doing, to which he replies "I'm painting a thin red line, they will never get past that", and Terry Scott replies "I will put a thin red line across your thick white backside" :lol:

Not really into Carry on Films but I do love Carry on Screaming

Frying tonight is the famous line but I actually prefer this line Doctor Watt says "Who is my uncle or was, I haven't seen him for years I don't know what happened to him" irony being this was said by Jon Pertwee who became the third Dr.

I also love this exchange.....

Det Sgt. Bung: A young lady has disappeared and we're anxious to trace her whereabouts.
Dr. Watt: Oh? Whereabouts?
Det Sgt. Bung: Hereabouts.
Albert: At ten o'clock.
Det Sgt. Bung: Or thereabouts.
Constable Slobotham: In this vicinity.
Det Sgt. Bung: Or roundabouts.
Constable Slobotham: We're police officers.
Albert: Or layabouts.

I love Fenella Fielding in this film.
