Why do we even bother? Compact domestic audio is not Hi-Fi!
I have a TDK S60 multimedia speaker system that would piss all over Bose offerings.
Just get a set of small active "pro desktop" speakers like the £130 Seiwins! I bet they'd pee all over most "domestic" TV-style add-ons....

I was quite taken with Bose saying their wonderful system was better than most internal TV speakers
So in some cases you spend money for less and the speakers in a tv must be about the lowest of the low of very low things

Heard it briefly... Don't ask how!
Usual Bose flat/grey/bland sound with massive built in EQ around 60hz-70hz Sounds boomy as hell.
I reckon the integrated speakers in decent Sony/Panasonic CRT TV's from 15 years ago would slaughter it.... Unfortunately the speakers in LCD's now are awful.

Bought one for trial at home. Used for two weeks, boom, boom and bloody awful, returned to John Lewis's. Tried John Lewis's own make one, £200.00p cheaper than the Bose but still not that good but better than the Bose IMO, returned it after a week's trial, back to listening to my Panny as is but that is not to rule out little active speakers. Given up on sound bars etc but I can see the attraction for some but not for me!

I demo'ed a Yamaha YSP-1000 when they came out, with the matching sub it was a very convincing setup... I would have bought it then & there but couldn't afford it so went for the YSP-800 instead which is still far better than any of these more up to date one's I've heard.

Put the TV in between the hifi and connect up

Just what I've been doing for years.
It used to be a bit of a joke that the speakers (ESL57) were huge compared to the size of the telly. Not quite so different now :lol:
Here's a question. A while back the decent tellies had sockets for external speakers. Why don't they now? :steam:

I've just purchased a new tv for the front room, it is a good quality Panasonic but ohhhhhhhh dearrrrrr what a terrible sound :(:(
I purchased Panasonic because that's what I've been using for the past 6 years and that tv is still going strong and is now in the bedroom and the sound is superb as well, and that's in a standard LCD tv
This current Panasonic will be going back to John Lewis as the sound is just sooo bad
Having said all that I would NEVER give house room to anything from Bose, I've heard plenty of it and it is just so overrated; utter rubbish..... sorry to all the Bose owners.... just my 2p worth :):)

I understand Philips are making some of the best TV pictures right now - not sure about the sound.
Domestic TV is profit-less and I think "lowest common denominator" is becoming a serious factor. Good luck with your TV choice :)

Flat panel TVs have throw-away speakers that aren't supposed to be used seriously. I have never used the speakers in my Panny.
Connect it up to your hi-fi system and hear TV sound the way it's supposed to be heard.

I'm just guessing but I don't think anyone here uses Bose. So don't worry ;)
I've got those Bose noise cancelling headphones to use on the plane, so am hugely offended!:)

Any cheap amp and some JBL control one. Small, black, inconspicuous very good and a bargain even new.

They are excellent little speakers, like the Technics Sl1200 they are only so cheap due to the amount sold and a 20 odd year product life. Any amp will do.

That is the pro version - you don't need that - the standard version is on eBay for around £70 delivered -includes wall brackets.
Why would a Bose user care about the art of sound? ;)

This is a great shame! I inherited a big Philips panel with ambilight a couple of years ago; I thought the lights were a cheap gimmick. Now, if they ever get turned off - like when the cat treads on the dubris - the whole viewing experience goes really flat and grey (not literally). A very odd psychological effect. Having the colour change according to the screen colours on top, left or right seems to expand the size of the display.
Looks like I need to watch out for end of run bargains if I want to upgrade to another ambilight set. :rolleyes:

My partner's sister has this on her TV and whenever I am there I ask them how on earth they can put up with it as it seems to me to be the most horrendous distraction! They claim not to notice it now but if it were that good I am sure they would all be using it. Mind you, I have to cover offensive blue LED's on equipment as they distract me too...
