Stumbled across these JVC headphones today - discounted in my local Tesco to £8.70 (from £29.00).
I'm no expert when it comes to cans but I recently wandered into PC World of Curry and sampled a few of the headphones on offer and I really liked the JVC models. They were quite a bit better imho than all of the other more expensive models, including the pricey BOSE. I have a memory like a goldfish and I'm pretty sure this aint the model I liked but I took a punt seeing as it was only £8.70.
Build quality is pretty good. On first listen it was obvious the balance wasn't right - the bass and treble are boosted and the mids recessed. But when I got home and checked the Head-Fi forum for opinions it seems a fair amount of 'burn-in' is required before they start to take on a more neutral tone. They're already dramatically improving with every listen - bass is tighter, mids are opening up and the treble is silky smooth. This could be rather good - I'm really pleased I took a punt.
