my name's Alan - I live in Eastbourne, E. Sussex. I've been interested in hifi/stereo for the last forty years or so and have to admit to having too much equipment now. My main system is a Rega P9, MF 308cr pre, Quad 909, fairly cheap CD and a pair of Spendor A9. As you can imagine I'm pretty happy with the system but I tend to find myself listening to music as background more and more and using the turntable less and less. I'm interested in languages and speak German and French fluently (I lived in both countries for quite a time), and pretty good Spanish and Italian. I'm particularly fond of artists such as Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Young, Jackson Browne to name just a few and also enjoy Fabrizio de Andre, Alice, Michel Sardou and Adamo. I also like some classical music - e.g. Beethoven and Mozart i.e. stuff that's easy on the ear. Hope that's not too lengthy an introduction (yawn, yawn).

I purchased Alan's lovely Technics 1210 last Saturday and a very nice rack that I installed yesterday - still got the 1210 to set up! :D

Hi Alan, welcome to the forum. Spendor A9 hey - lovely! Just listening to Gretchen Peters - Hello Cruel World - I would imagine she would sound fab through them, and might just be your cup of tea? Hope you enjoy AoS. :)

There are quite a few more singers I like that I didn't mention - Gretchen Peters is one of them and she does sound wonderful through the speakers. The list could go on - Alison Krauss, Nanci Griffith, Gillian Welch, Joan Baez, Carole King and not forgetting the wonderful Kim Carnes (Sailin', St Vincent's Court, Mistaken Identity).
Hi also to Jules who bought my heavily modded Technics 1210 which was probably the best sounding deck I've ever had but I really do have to slim down my hifi collection.
