Hi gang,

I am looking for a decent power amp, minimum 100 watts per channel or monobloc's to match with an Audiolab 8000LX (this is an integrated but for this little project will be using as a preamp).

Will be driving a pair of ProAc Super Towers.

Need something with plenty of grunt for vinyl only music evenings I am putting together, i.e. bring a couple of records and we all listen to a couple of tracks from each person present over wine, beer, cheese and nibbles ;)

Try Adrian at http://www.audioflair.co.uk
He is a member here, but isn't a regular visitor. But he does have some nice amps and other kits to swap or sell.

Many thanks, really appreciate you taking the time to make the offer and price reduction but this is a bit too 'Hi-Fi' for me ;) When I saw 'POA' I did start to get excited because back in the mid-90's I had a pair of POA-6600 monobloc's, they were awesome, on another level to the 2400 I'm afraid.

Hope you sell it to someone else.

What's the budget? I have some huge grunty amps looking for a new home since going all valve.

Super Towers don't usually need lots of heft, a Croft 40 Watter being fine for most things, but I do hope the combo you've settled on works well for you.

Watch out for rotted foam cone-surrounds though, as myu mate who uses a Croft Series 4S with these speakers had to get Wembley Loudspeakers to sort them out - all four main drivers...

For 15 years I lusted after a pair of 8000M's to partner with my 8000S... Would be a bit overkill now in the dining room into Wharfedale Diamonds but I would have thought they would be perfect for what you need Craig - and they're the pre IAG (i.e. made in the UK) ones... :)

Dave.

Excellent, I have actually been looking for a pair of M's as I know the Audiolab products very well and have been a long time user of various amps from the range (never owned a pair of M's though).

So you are saying £595 for the pair, is that delivered?

I have also been offered something else on another site which is also very attractive and I will wait to see what deal I can strike with that and compare.

Will get back to you ;)

Hi Craig, I can do them at that price delivered as long as you pay by direct bank transfer. Otherwise I have to lose money on credit card / paypal fees which would leave me with no margin.
Regards,
Dave.

OK Dave, very tempting indeed, let me get back to you within the next 72 hours as I do want to see how this other deal goes ;)

Hi Dave,

Apologies, I was trying to come back to you sooner but one thing and another...anyway, I am going to pass on the Audiolab monoblocs despite really wanting a pair but am going for a totally different amplifier setup, namely valves.

Thanks for your assistance and I trust the M's will find a good home.

Best regards,

Craig

The AVI's were better than the Audiolabs anyway - we sold both at the time, but the Audiolabs were more popular as I recall and sounded more 'impressive.'
