Hi,
I´m new here, and will instroduce my self - I have a SL-1200 MKII, not many forums with a dedicated and active section.
Got mine from new in 2008, with an AT120E, apart from this; a Marantz 2252B, a set of JBL 100A´s, and a count of records, mainly from the 70´s.
The entry speech:
My approach is to have analog from needle to speaker, an assumption that equipment developed the same year(s) most probably fits best, assuming that the speakers the producer used to mix the record theoretically will be the best to use while listening to the record, which is one of the reasons I selected the L100 as speaker, since many of my records probably were mixed with a set of similar speakers, 4311/L100 etc.
The music ones listen tells more than 1.000 words, so I will spare you, and short list the vinyl music instead :) : Deep Purple, Grand Funk, Gloria Ganer, Band on the Run, Georgie, Amanda Lear, Red Bone, Frank Zappa, Ten Years After ( 10 ), Cat Mother, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabath, Allman Brothers, KC & The Sunshine Band, Moody Blues, Carl Douglas ( Kung Fu Fighting ) - in short, all styles and shapes from when I was younger :)
But - to remove time bubble associations, I also listen to the latest music ( 70% ), but visually, watching the music video on the 50" LCD, and sound out on the equipment - Kate Perry and Bruno Mars ( Lazy Song + video ) are some of my favorites of todays artists - adding the visual, adds a new dimension to music and music listening, I think .. for us not so young who cant be part of the party anymore - unless you like to be thrown out of the disco :D
Project in the pipeline is to set-up a 100" LG Hecto laser TV ( when price drops), and get a pair more of the L100A, my own disco :D
Secondly, or firstly, to give the L100´s a more timely look, painted piano white at a auto painter, put of steel stand on, and light gray thin semi-transparent front-cover.
