Heyup.

I'm after some cartridge bolts to fit my Goldring G800 properly. The ones I have are actually Nagaroka and the bolt ends and nuts are just a tad too small. They look like they are slipping in to the headshell groove and the bolt is no grabbing the cart as good as I would like.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Cheers
Joe

If they are the normal high tensile nuts and bolts you require, tell me the length and I'll send you a set.

You can buy kits of bolts, washers (if necessary) and nuts on ebay for not too much. How I get them these days now I'm not in retail - and I DON'T cadge 'em from hifi dave either!!!!!!!!! Take him up on his kind offer though :)

Clap hands for HF_Dave for repeating this gesture, like you i bought mines from Evilbay,
i have never had any contacts be it PM's or Email's or customer basis so don't know Dave from Adam, errr....should that be 'Dave', :D
seems a thoroughly nice chap.

What i'd like to know from HF_Dave is do you stock the Nylon bolts and nuts?,
i don't do up my cartridges excruciatingly tight and think the Nylon ones do less damage to arm tube/headshell.

wii.

No, sorry. Not seen such things since the 1960s.

You can always use the normal steel and not go overboard tightening. Or, SME used to supply them with the Series II arms. They might have stock.

Thanks, just thought i'd ask, have been using 2.5mm plastic washers between headshell and bolt/nut and working fine, hoping for a neater solution thats all.

I sometimes have used nylon 2.5mm washers if there's a danger of headshell-mauling and a softer plastic cartridge body that won't take to "Linn" tightness. Stainless steel washers are perfect too if the top of the shell is flat enough for them..

I can't abide mashed up headshells.

I changed a cartridge on a Tiktok a couple of weeks ago. It was a K18 fitted aeons ago and tightened to Linn spec - do it until it cracks and back off a bit. This one hadn't even been 'backed off' and I struggled with the short end of an Allen key in the bolt and the long end as the lever, to undo the bolt. The Allen key was bending with the effort. The headshell was a right old mess..:stalks:

Why ?

Enough is enough.
