Since I know we like looking at speakers and amps on here I thought I'd share an up to date pic of my bass rig which has gone from strength to strength recently. Sorry for the quality, I quickly snapped this pic with my phone.

For the uninitiated here's a quick run down of the rig:

Trace Elliot AH200S
Laney 4x10 loaded with Celestions with switchable horn
Ampeg BSE115 1x15 (made in USA) loads of low-end grunt from this cab

I previously ran Line 6 and Peavey combos. Whilst fine for rehearsals and smaller gigs I'd always fancied a proper stack so when this bad boy rig came up for local collection on that auction site I jumped at it. The former owner was a well known local bass player and this rig has been on stages with some fairly big names over the years. It sounds incredible and is proper old school loud!

The guitars are:
Fender Standard Jazz Bass with a few mods (Seymour Duncan Pickups, Leo Quan Badass II bridge, Vintage Pickup Cover Fitted for looks if nothing else)
Ibanez BTB 5 String Active Bass (Di Marzio pickups)

On both axes I like medium light gauge strings, usually D'adarrio and play a mixture of pick, finger and slap styles.

Hi Marco, yes we'd be keen to do that if we can cover our costs. We never make any money from shows and play for the joy of it.

I appreciate not everyone is a huge floyd fan so if there was enough interest we could do a mixture of classic and prog stuff with a fair bit floyd thrown in for good measure.

Happy to discuss via pm if you have an idea of date and venue

Nice one, Rich. The proposed date for the show is 3/11/13, and the venue will most likely be in Derby. We're just waiting on finalising a few details, which when done, will allow me to confirm on the forum that the show is definitely taking place.

Dot markers and tortoiseshell pickguard get my gears going :eyebrows:
I'm surprised to see the metalwork over the neck pickup, but at a guess I'd say that the player uses a pick ;)

That's a very nice rig to be sure. It has been such a very long time since I played (early 80's), I dread to think how rusty I've become... :(

I'll qualify my above post with a statement, and that is my pinkie is rather sore at the moment, due to using some interesting chord voicings.

My pinkie will toughen up to the task, I'm sure ....:)

I've not tried music though the rig yet, might hook up an iPod and see. Probably brilliant for a rave, not very HiFi though....

What I was trying to create was something which looked like the precision bass Roger Waters used in the classic 'Pompeii' video. What I have actually created is essentially a Marcus Miller signature clone. When imitating Roger I play with a pick near the bridge for a sharp and bright sound. However the pickup cover serves surprisingly well as a thumb rest for finger style and keeps one's wrist clear of the strings when slapping as per Marcus.

In terms of the sound I aim for the following 3 songs basically sum it up and have great bass:

Fascination street - The Cure
Leave them all behind - Ride
Happiest days of our lives/another brick - Pink Floyd
