crack through speakers when amp turns off?

When I finish listening to my Crofts I usually go through the same procedure.

Mute, volume down, pre off, power off.

I have also tried -

Volume down, mute, power off, pre off.

But I still get a high frequency crack sound through the speakers when I turn the power amp off. It's not too loud but it doesn't sound good either?

I don't remember getting it with my old Linn speakers just my new spendors. Anyone any idea why and more to the point could it damage the coils?

I have checked and all my cables are nice and tight with no loose ends and such.

Any ideas would be cool as they are new (to me) and I won't be able to eat for a month to pay for them. The last thing I want is to damage them...:(

there's a Zobel network on the speaker outputs of the amp, and there may be something that the amp does not like coming from the speakers - better to ask Glenn himself, I honestly reckon. surely, there's nothing 'bad' regarding the speakers, it should be some impedance/frequency modulation stuff, I believe, as an interaction between the Croft and Spendors, that's all, but nothing to harm the speakers, thus, to really worry about

You should turn the power amp on last and turn it off first.

If it's not loud, I wouldn't worry too much. Many amps can be prone to this. As has been mentioned, turn the power amp off first and on last. My power amps also 'crack' slightly otherwise. Don't worry about your speakers, the crossover should protect the tweeters.

The basic pre if you have it has no mute on switch off so you should always switch amps off first then pre.

As I said in my first post I turn the mute off first and have tried pre then power off and power then pre off.

Either way I get the same noise.

But it seems as it is not unusual and not harmful.
