Has anyone had recent dealings with Classic LPs?

I placed and paid for an order over a month ago, still waiting.

There's no reply to several emails, their displayed contact number is unavailable, the website hasn't been updated for months, no reply to messages left on the mobile number.
I have been told they have a retail outlet in Malvern called Carnival records, but they don't answer the phone and don't reply to messages.

So far the response I've had is indicative of a firm going or has gone bust.

Anyone shine a light on this?

Nice - so they leave the web site up in order to slurp more cash! The owner has a column in HI-Fi News and Record review. Certainly writing in last months edition. Perhaps contacting the magazine to find his whereabouts might be fruitfull. Forum member Beobloke may know something about the situation as he writes for same mag.

Disgraceful! I hate people who own businesses and can't be arsed running them properly

Keep us posted of any progress, Al!

Precisely - even if he is in financial difficulties he should close down in an orderly fashion and cease taking money. This is possibly the second case recently with Onlyvinyl.biz disappearing with the ebay shop Devils Dukebox. Left a lot of buyers losing money judging by the neg feedback including some Hi-Fi Wigwam members. Doesn't sound like the new audiophile vinyl business is a guaranteed money spinner these days.

that might partly be down to the dubious quality of some of the pressings, whether it be unacceptable surface noise, warped vinyl, or mastering that sounds like it's been taken from a CD. I wonder how many returns these companies have to deal with, it must drive them crazy.

Those problems only affect a small percentage of product with the more reputable audiophile labels. Anyway they should build this into the considerable profit on each LP where they can't return to the supplier. My problem with these people is they don't wind up a loss making concern in an orderly fashion but do a runner with customer's money. They are all great to deal with on the face of it but this behaviour would lead me to avoid if they ever set up in business again.

I think it's best to keep clear of these 'one man band' businesses and stick with established companies like Diverse who have a proper record shop with business partners and staff. This ensures sudden illness, accident or personal crisis doesn't mean everything falls of the rails.

I don't know what the relationship is between Classic LP's and Carnival Records, but Bigdur on Hifiwigwam might be able to throw some light on them, I met him at Carnival to collect some kit.

I have posted on their facebook page, left messages on their mobile number and at both Classic and Carnival contact numbers, still no reply!!

I have just had an email returned as unavailable due to their message box is full. I didn't know that was possible.
Maybe others are having difficulty making contact.

not really conducive to good business.

I'm getting annoyed now :steam:

Contact at last, now I feel bad, apparently they are a small family business and on top of serious illness and running a family they have had a sudden bereavement.
This meant they had to close the retail shop for a while and attend to their immediate situation.
Being a family man I understand how stressful and time consuming this can be.

I hope they get back to normal as soon as possible.

Indeed, and I sympathise, but why couldn't they have posted a notice to that effect on their website? Had they done that, this situation wouldn't have occurred...
