FS - Chario Academy II speakers with matching stands

With a heavy heart I have decided to sell my cherished Chario Academy II speakers.

These Italian beauties used to be the top of the range stand mounts, boasting stunning cabinets that are carved from solid walnut.
As you can see from the photos they even have dove-tail joints such is the craftsmanship! They have rounded contours, and a small baffle that can generate even vertical and horizontal energy-radiation patterns.

In terms of cosmetic condition they are really excellent, with just a few marks. There's a small bruise on the side of the cab in the final photo. The grilles are perfect.

The electronics are functioning perfectly. With a 4cm Ferrrofluid-cooled soft-dome tweeter and a 17cm Neoflex cone woofer, they produce a wonderfully rich sound. The treble is one of the sweetest I have ever heard and the bass is full; imaging is truly excellent. They are rear-ported and bi-wirable - original links included.

Included in the sale are the lovely original matching Chario stands that have discs of cork dotted around the top to make the speakers more secure. The stands can be disassembled quickly and easily for ease of transport.

I don't have the original boxes and don't want to risk them getting damaged, so it's collection only from Highgate, North London. It's only 15 minutes from the end of the M1.

Are Chario speakers connected with Sonus Faber in some way, or is it coincidence that they are just as spectacular to look at?

I have read that Chario was actually founded 10 years before Sonus Faber.

I think the passion for solid wood just reflects Italian design aesthetics, which as we all know, aren't too shabby ... ;)

Indeed. I'd not heard of them before, but definitely aware of Sonus Faber. I rather like the no nonsense design employed in German speaker manufacturing as well. Strange how speakers look like the country they're from.

Anyway, good luck with the sale, although I don't think you'll be hanging on to them long!

The Syntars were the Chario entry-level range and excellent they were too - I still have a smaller pair of Syntars ...

Lots of interest on ebay now but I would prefer them to go to an AOS home, and instead of paying ebay fees I will offer an AOS member an £80 discount, making these £820. :)
