Music lover who prefers valves. Live in Bunbury Western Australia without a hifi store insight. Waiting on a Croft line r integrated that I ordered from the UK. Devore Fidelity speakers,Kef LS50 speakers,Merlin VSM-MXI speakers. Cary Audio cd player, Icon Audio m/c phono stage, Rega RP6 deck with Ortofon cartridge. Rega Brio R. Ars Sonum Filarmonia integrated. Closet full of different cables. Love hearing about different people's views on audio and music. Paul

50's & 60's Jazz and Bluegrass.I was raised in Chicago so I love some of the local blues bands from there. I keep Fedex in business because I order most of my stuff from the states. Married an Australian so have lived out here for ten years. I am still trying to figure out how I got talked into this.

I wonder if the UK customs department is as bad as the Australian customs department. Have an amplifier coming in from London and stuck in F...... red tape at the airport. The government doing it's usual good job.

That's good then! Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest they'll sound crap, just that it's a lot of effort to import gear yourself & it would be a shame if it turned out not to be as good as you'd expected.

We would love to know what the Australian audio market is like. What home products do you have there? Do music lovers look towards Japan or to the US or to the UK for their gear - or are there enough Australian designed and maufactured products?

There are 2 or three s/s amplifier companies based in Melbourne..Redgum Audio & Burson Audio that have been around for sometime . I think there a few speaker companies but none that really stand out. There is a company making some very expensive turntables as in the 6 figure price bracket. I think there is a good mix of UK and US made gear available here and some Australian owned Chinese made tube amps by a company called Melody Audio. The prices here for the most part are shocking as some import companies are really marking things up. The cost of living here is some of the highest in the world and the prices of most consumer goods are much higher then the UK or US.

Ooh! Redgum Audio - one of my favourite Aussie bands, now long defunct, was called 'Redgum'. Described to me by another Aussie as "the thinking man's rock group". Very political and very left-wing!

Has anybody listened to any music from a label called stockfish and could they recommend any of their recordings.
