Hi, I have a problem with my Onkyo AV5VL amp.
It keeps going into safety (cut out) and silences itself.
I have tried it with different speaker cable and speakers and it still does it. However i have tried unplugging the speakers and using headphone jack and it DOESN'T cut out.
Also curiously today i have tried one speaker plugged in at a time and this also DOESN'T cut out. It only cuts out when i plug in both speakers to the amp at the same time.
Does anyone know what is causing this?
Thanks

Sounds like something is demanding too much current. Have you checked your cables and speakers with a meter to ensure there's no short anywhere? Are you using speakers of too low an impedance?

Hi, i've tried with different speakers and cable so shouldn't be a problem with them. the speakers are either mission m71 or warfedale's with 8ohms. Not sure what is the appropriate impedence.

Hi "Flappy",

Could you do me a favour please and add your real first name and approximate geographical location to your profile? This information is now required of all members :)

Cheers!

Marco.

P.S If you also haven't popped into the Welcome area and introduced yourself to everyone, telling what system you use and what music you like, please do that, too.
