Sue and I first got together last November when we escaped the clutches of North Yorkshire and moved to North Lincolnshire. It was a return home for me as I grew up here in the sixties and seventies and so it was that we returned here to start again. We rented a house from a friend of a friend and decided that the front reception room would be the music room. Now Sue adores music and hi-fi as much as I do but the final arrangement of decor for the room is going to be down to me.
So. teal blue/green for the chimney breast and feature wall and Ivory Cream for the remainder of the room. All of the trim like dado rail and skirting/coving will be matt white and the ceiling is to be Ivory Cream also so as to contrast with the matt white coving. I've included a couple of images to show what a mess the room is right now but alas, that is nothing to do with us. I am looking forward to getting this done during this years springtime and slowly moving forward and back into the swing of things.

It'll be a pleasure Brian, I just hope it all comes together and if it doesn't it won't be for the lack of trying. I am quite excited about starting it. I think a trip to B&Q is in order.

Looks like it's going to be an enjoyable project Shaun. What are the dimensions of the room?

Not sure of the room dimensions but could be around twelve by fourteen with a high ceiling and original plaster coving. Looking back on buying the KEF Q500's, it may have been more sensible to have bought standmounters. I think they would have been a better match for the room.

The room at the end of a very busy week. Next moves...? Croft pre-power to replace the ones I had to sell in 2010 and a Bushmaster DAC. I have already discovered Atlas cables to good effect so I am slowly getting there.

The room by the way is now done in Dulux Apple White with matt white trim and details. We can't make too many changes as it is a rented property but I like the way it looks now.

I'd now like some deep purple curtains with a heavy lining and a chrome curtain pole to hang them from. Roll on payday...!

Cool! I knew you could get badges and stuff, but I didn't know they did curtains... I'd like some Abba ones!

Marco.

LOL yeah do you remember the cloth badges that kids stitched all over their jeans...? My God the seventies were truly awful fashion wise but thank God for the music.

Yeah I remember having some dark purple and black shoes with six inch heels and two inch platforms. That was along with bright yellow jeans and a purple jacket not to mention the very long hair.

By the way, referring to your avatar, I adored Ducati's back during the nineties when I owned so many different types. My favourite I think could well have been the 900 Monster. I remember it suffered badly from carb icing and was an absolute pig during cold spring days. Fortunately though, my bikes never went out if there was a cloud anywhere over the UK.

This was one of my alltime favourite motorcycles:

Your chimney breast colour looks better now. We have all our wall's painted in Dulux 'Natural Calico' which is like a warm cream colour..

At the current time, my aim for the summer is to buy a black chrome curtain pole, a pair of dark purple curtains and to get those bloody vinyl boxes painted as I have now had them for two years and they are still MDF coloured...! I would then like to buy another Samson Servo 600 power amplifier and bridge them both into the KEF Q500's for a better stereo separation and even more reserve power. The Cambridge Audio C500 pre amp is OK but it will be replaced by a Croft Micro 25 just as soon as I get my bloody overpaid tax back.

I have a cunning plan...!!!

Thank you Andre. There is no accounting for taste as they say and the previous owner/occupier couldn't help not having any. I love those pale creams and we shall be doing our second room in Ivory Cream by Crown.

Aye i know what you mean. Important to piant walls in a neutral colour, gives the room space & of course pretty much any colour furnishing will go with it.... That 'Calico' is like an Ivory cream Shaun..

We are drifting slightly off thread here but...:eyebrows:

As my avatar suggests this was one of my previously owned Ducati -

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZPBTr6rfO6Q/UL9G6-viq2I/AAAAAAAABig/4SHhKxlUIlA/s657/iphone+009.JPG

It was/is a 1979 Mike Hailwood Replica with frame number 003 of the first 200 ever made with single piece faring, no side panels, 38mm dellorto's and single seat.

It carried me all over the UK and to the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen amongst others.

I do miss it...:wah:

Yeah, I miss my motorbikes too especially when the weather is gorgeous and the coast road calls during the summer. I loved cruising up and down the deserted coast road in Lincolnshire it was bliss. Of course the odd real ale was had also (just one pint though officer).

I nealy killed myself on one, never again..

Back in 1977 at the age of 18 I had a smash which left me with three compound fractures of my left leg, four broken ribs, a broken collar bone and a damaged left hand. I spent six months in hospital of which five months were on traction and another year off work learning how to walk all over again. It didn't stop me from riding motorcycles.

I spent the next twenty five years riding mainly Kawasaki's and Ducati's and totally loving every minute with a huge passion. The only thing that has stirred my emotions and feelings more than bikes is music. I remember my first seven inch single bought for me by my Mom, 'Shapes of Things' by the Yardbirds.

Ever since that crash I have been classed as disabled as I have my left leg one and a half inches shorter than my right. I still don't regret anything.

This is a shot across the other side of the room where I aim to put yet more vinyl boxes for my ever expanding collection of black discs.
