View Full Version : Goodmans Magister crossover ?
Hi, everyone,
Would any of you be able to help me with the crossover of the Goodmans Magister?
I need to find a schematic . If anyone has experience with them monsters I would greatly appreciate any info on them.
Henri.

I would have thought they would be similar to the Magnums................ie crossover points, although the treble and mid would have different attenuation. I dont have schematics, but will help any way I can.

Thank you Stewart,
Are the magnum K using the same drivers? While similar I beleive they are not the same. On this, the magisters I have have DT2 drivers in them rather than the DT3 normaly used for the tweeter, and unfortunatly the rubber stamped ref. number on the mid range drivers is unreadable
I have since found, hiden behind the foam next to the input connector, in each cabinet, a single inductor probably left by whoever thought whorthy to loot these:mental:
Thank you again Stewart
While searching for info on these crossovers I did manage to get my hand on some expired ad from possibly Ebay.u.k, but off from a Russian mirror site where I was able to grab a picture of the thing made of 3 inductors and 3 cap (one of 10uF one of 4.7uF another one for which I can not read any value, possibly another 4.7uF I am leaving the picture should it ever bring comment or memories

They look the same as Magnum crossovers , I have had a few pairs here some with 4.7 and some with 5 uf caps all have had the 10 in the middle , not sure what size the inductors are though.

Oscar,
...The Magnum I have seen were fairly different they are using L pads and resistors, aren't they? They would use 2 inductors rather than 3 for the Magister ? But then, how many incarnation of them exists ? I have the single tweeter Magister earlier one's had two
Magnum K2 did not have the L-pads. Values for the capacitors on mine were 4 for the two outside ones and 10 on the middle one.

Sorry should have said the K2's , maybe best experiment with values from 4 uf-5uf ,Goodmans probably fitted what they had in stock at the time hence the different values found.
...Is there any chance one of you might know the cross-over frequencies ?
My understanding is 800hz and 5000hz for the Magnums. I cannot recall where that came from though. It is hard to find reliable information on them .

If somone else could validate that, I have found a old post on Audiokarma sugesting those same numbers but for the Magisters. I would still have to figure out the 3 inductors values
