Tannoy HDP 315/8 - how they look like ?

Is it something wrong with a speaker on this picture or is the way how HDP 315/8 look like ? :doh:

I assume its a re-cone as it does not have the dust cover or glue marks where the dusk cover went.

Yes...later (post 1974) HPDs made after the move to Coatbridge allegedly suffered with poor quality drillings, so this could be an earlier London made unit?

All that I can see wrong, as Rob points out, is that the dust cap is missing which is an odd oversight for whoever re-coned them. Presumably both are like this?

Easily resolved ...just buy the dust caps and glue into place.

My HPD 315's have drilling that is not perfect, but not too bad. Viewing is obscured a bit by the dust cover that is fitted. Must try and check the date of manufacture of my units.

I must be lucky..mine are nigh on faultless...very nicely finished indeed (and London made). Date of manufacture I think was 1973 on mine.

If the gauze caps are missing, leave them off. They do nothing to help the speaker at all.
