Techie Power Supply or a Jelco next

Hi Folks,

I have a 1210 with an Origin Live RB300 and Ortofon Red plus Origin live platter mat.

What's the next up grade? Do I go for a Jelco and a MC or do I get a power supply?

I have been very pleased so far but I feel the Techie has more to offer.

Any advice great fully received.

Hi Martin,
My advice would be to address the PSU first as the difference isnt subtle.
Depending on your budget...
Mcrus does an external PSU for less than 300 GBP I believe.
Paul Hynes does the best PSU by far, but its a little dearer. Although check with him sometimes he has PX items .
And finally if you feel DIY minded and a bit adventurous, you could always externalise!

IMHO it is best to upgrade the Techie itself, meaning PSU, bearing and platter (not necessarily in that order). Then address the arm + cart. Just my 2 cents.

Is the general consensus that Paul Hynes builds the best PSUs for the Techies? Perhaps this may be true for the cost no object supplies, but for the more reasonable cost PSUs, the less expensive, 2-stage, MCRUs supply is difficult to beat for value. Others chime in, what's your opinion?

Power supply should be next on your list. Your OL RB300 should see you through for a cartridge upgrade as it is capable of carrying much better than the Ortofon Red.

You could also look at better isolation/support for your TT. There are quite a few support to replace the standard feet. Isonoe feet are very good and are what I use.

DL-110 if you just want to drop it into the system, but the DL-103 goes much further with a suitable medium mass (as a minimum) tonearm, headshell (like the Sumiko HS-12) and a decent step-up transformer or head amp.
