Top of the range, UK review's reference from mid-80s! £270
Complete with matching trolley stands and in walnut. Previous owner had some of the last available replacement bass drivers fitted by Mordaunt Short (don't know why, magnet droop from age?).
On bottom corner bash from a previous owner.
I'm currently trying to clear my living room so I can take photos of the things I'm clearing out - bear with me! Hopefully get some photos up tomorrow.
These are fairly large (1.2m on their stands?) so will have to be picked up or I can deliver for fuel cost (if not too many hours drive!) - I'm in central London.

Look at the Spendor SP1 thread for how to do it.
I've just sold my Pageant's 2 and if I was local would take these in a heartbeat considering how good the P's were and the rarity of these in particular...

Silly move! You should have kept the Pageant's!!
Too many speakers @home and not much room left, they were replaced with a pair of Ditton 22 which have a different presentation, for the better, or at least I want them to :scratch:
Never too late to grab another pair in the future, so not all is lost!

Seriously - I have great memories of these, a friend of mine's father used to own a pair many years ago. They had an unusual midrange driver, made by MS themselves, where the rubber surround wasn't used, and the cone bonded to the driver chassis at its edges.
Lovely speakers, nicely dry and taut at the bottom end too if I remember. :)
They were good, if a little dry in presentation. VERY likeable though and I'd love to hear some on modern sources...

Floor's very cluttered at the moment - need to get a clear space between the speakers and camera so I don't get embarrassed by the mess. Hopefully finish clearing up tonight and take the photos!

BUM ! You're right, Signifer.
I've always called them Signifiers and once that was set in my mind, I never "read" the word again, saw the word but never read it.
Have a Hifi Choice speaker review book with them in - Recommended of course. £630 in 1981 ! Thought they were slightly later than that.
In the same book, Yamaha NS1000M are £550 and the Signifer gets a consistently higher rating through all the categories scoring "V.Good" throughout with the Yam getting "Good" mostly, apart from an excellent for distortion.
Yup - if someone has the room for them, these'll make them seriously happy.
I'm with you on the model name, always thinking that MS had someone in the badging dept who either couldn't spell or had a strange sense of humour but yes, Signifer it was. Apparently it means the 'standard bearer for a Roman Legion'.
Whereas their next flagship was the 442..

Anyway, I took some quick photos before I had to leave this afternoon. HAve to forgive their slight wonkiness as the CCD in my camera has shifted slightly.

Note how the bass driver is bolted to the rear of the cabinet too.

I sold a pair nearly 20 years ago for a good price, what i bought as a replacement was just stupid looking back.Wish i hadnt been so foolish in the past with rash decisions.
Go on... what was the stupid purchase?
