A Thorens TD 124 with SME Series 2 Improved and Shure V15 MkIII.
Nice condition, but the motor doesn't run so I've ordered a kit and a plinth from Jim in the US.
Not sure about keeping the SME as I'm all Decca'd up these days and I don't know if it's suitable (even with the fitted damping trough). Wondering about a Mayware or Hadcock.

Just in the process of dismantling it all to open up the motor, but here's a 'before'.
Sadly whatever the amp was, it's gone.

It's in bits at the moment - I haven't been able to try it because the motor wouldn't run.
Parts and a plinth are on the way from the US now, so I'm looking forward to putting it all together and seeing how it sounds.
I don't expect it to replace my 301 though.

The TD124 and the 301 have different 'presentations'. The 124 has a clearer mid and treble, conversely the 301 is better at the bass end.
Another difference is the 301 is highly dependant on the solidity of the plinth, whereas the TD124 isn't so dependant.
Enjoy them both!
