Just got my Lennie box set. Reminded me yet again why I'm a CD disciple. £28 from Amazon for 11 remastered studio albums. Superb package, all CDs in record sleeves etc etc. Sound quality is staggering.
So, for little more than the price of ONE LP I got 11 CDs in a superb package and I'd defy anyone to say the quality wasnt as good as vinyl.

I like both formats Harry...have to admit buying CD box-sets is a pleasure, I bought the Joni Mitchell set (10 albums I think) for about £20 earlier this year and will check out Happy Leonard likewise.

John, I got the Joni one as well. The Roxy Music one is great as well

Been listening on and off for most of the day and the SQ of these is quite stunning.
It's like the gloomy old bastard is in the room.

The sound quality wasn't as good as vinyl. (Although I haven't heard them)

There! I've defied ya! Whattya going to do about it? Eh? Eh?

Actually, think I might get it. Don't have any of his material and I like the the mini lp format. Thanks.

Aye the Lenny box is good..I found it strange that Columbia didn't state on the box or booklet that all the discs are remastered..I have the earlier presses and they most definetly are and do indeed sound superb.

I bought the set last year and I've not played much else since,
The quality is really good, in line with many of my better jazz recordings
I have some of the CDs on LP, but on my current system cd sound best.
I think they will get some airing at the wigwam show this week end..

Been listening to more of old misery guts. If all CDs were recorded this well records would never catch on.

I'm in awe. 'Lover, lover, lover' from New Skin For The Old Ceremony is one of the most breathtaking recordings I've ever heard. Reproduction like this is what I've been aiming for over 40 years.

I can recommend the Leonard Cohen Live in London set as well Harry - if you haven't heard it. His deep voice against the much higher backing singers highlights the great dynamics in the recording.

Ali, I can guarantee you'll be delighted. If you're not I'll send you the money

I've no doubt I will. It was one the highlights of a previous Glastonbury watching him on the Pyramid stage. Such a humble man who took his hat off after each song, held it on his chest with head bowed while the crowd was going absolutely bananas. A great memory.

Francoise Hardy's done some nice versions of some of his tracks.

Well, I've ordered the box set, Harry. If it doesn't do the biz - you'll be hearing from me solicitor!

Actually, I'm quite looking forward to hearing it as I don't have anything by him. There's a nice Francoise Hardy 6 disc box set too.

Not got your angry trousers on today, Harry!?!

I wasn't angry. My expectations are always set very low.

I've never heard Francoise Hardy. The SQ of that box set is apparently shite.

My money is safe with the Lenny set.

Just read the reviews. Pity. I was thinking of getting it.

I decided this was a good way to get some of his work. Ordered it myself as well. :)

Only £22 now. Bugger!

Tad, tad disappointed with the sleeves not being quite mini lp replicas, but can't complain really for the price. The Byrds is available for £23.

Listening to it right now! Wish I'd got the set for £22 though. Total bargain for 11 albums! :)
