Looking at the myriad of smart phones out there (I have an iphone4) I was wondering which one would be suitable for Audiophile playback?

Ok, I will narrow it down to ear-fi and not home playback. Just interested to hear which ones support FLAC?

Also which is better...using the headphone out on an iphone 4 to your hi fi or buying one of those dock to rca cables?:)

Win amp for android does FLAC, although now that Google music has all tunes synced I mostly use that and save FLAC for home. Streams pretty good on 3g.

My old Nokia N900 can do Flac and sounds pretty good even if only up to 48KHz.

Think the new Blackberry Z10 does FLAC too and my Playbook sounds great (playbook doesn't do flac though without extra software).

I'd favour one with HDMI output perhaps and maybe there's a cheap way of getting the digital output from that (I have seen some boxes that do) and then go into a good DAC. HDMI should guarantee 24/96 shouldn't it?

Then you probably also want expandable storage too. (Quite amazed really that my 2009 N900 still has more storage than most phones out there today with 32Gb internally and up to 32Gb on SD card - was way ahead of its time yet didn't get the sheeple hype)

Basically, anything but Apple ! haha... (no flac, no HDMI, no expandable storage)

I have an Experia T which sounds pretty awesome playing MP3's through my Superlux 668B headphones, dunno whether it does flac though
